I do not see it as any more wrong than confiscating my illegal drugs or fireworks. If the tint is illegal how is it different? The officer is not damaging the vehicle only the illegal tint. Yes, one difference is it is illegal to possess the drugs or fireworks but you can buy all the tint you want as long as you don't use it illegally. Once it is used illegally though the differences blur.

I hate it when that happens.

I dont see how a cop can just go and take a razor blade to someones window that is just ridiculous, a cop who does that really takes his job to serious. Its window tint on someones car and I dont see how that compares to illegal drugs or fireworks because I dont see anyone killing themselves or harming others in any ways by having window tint on. I took mine off after a fix it ticket because it was cheaper to get on then the fine was for not fixing it so I tried to get it off with a razor blade and let me tell you it took me about 2 hours to get the window looking normal again because of all the junk the tint left on my windows and now I have scratches under my new tint on the window because I was just really pissed off at the whole thing and became reckless with the razor blade..

The whole windshield tint issue is about safety like drag racing but they dont take the car. There is a chance other people can get hurt or killed by your voluntary actions. You are willingly impairing your forward vision tinting the windshield....at night you are reducing your stop distance....the darker the shorter. Some with very good vision may see well enough during the day but everyone with dark windows admits it's a problem in the dark....maybe you will not see someones child or pet in time. Then you wonder the rest of your life if not for the illegal tint?

Im not law enforcement but I understand the safety aspect of limiting tint since many people have vision problems especially at night and some just don't know when enough is enough.
In my younger days I played around the edges of the law...and even got illegal tint tickets but as we age we find some things are more important or not that important when it comes to the law.

Personally I don't want to invite the cops to pull me over at any time or place. I got enough negative attention and pull overs for DWB.

With triple dark tint all the way around, there is a good chance you'd get pulled however,
at least you'd never have another DWB stop.

For the longest time I couldn't figure why I kept getting pulled, an officer finally told me it was DWTOH.

No man, when you DWB they make up excuses if you don't give them any so illegal window tint is like begging them to come check you out when they get a chance. It's about as stupid as foolish youngsters with many illegal mods driving bad and the cop doesn't wait to catch them speeding so they stop them and give a pile of fix it tickets until they can give them a fat expensive wreckless driving ticket later.

DWTOH
I bet your friends also got pulled over while you were in the car for DWTH.
I always wondered why they call it racial profiling when TOH is not a race.

I think what Raoul was trying to say is, if you have lots of tint, it is impossible to get pulled over for DWB because there is no way for the cop to see you are DWB.

hmm, you guys there are not having a hot weather as us, overhere the summer is very hot , and window tint IS a must , from begining of May, each time i go out from work at 2:30 afternoon , I feel am driving an Oven (or a stremrail) , as soon as I put a 50% tint all around , the Oven became more drivable... no problem with cops till now but as soon as winter is here , i will reduce it...

Theoretically true but, when you get stopped DWB, act sensible and nothing is wrong it's usually just a few minutes delay but when you have lots of tint you will get stopped and ticketed regardless for either DWB (Driving While Blind) or DWBTL (Driving While Breaking The Law)...

It's loose loose either way if you don't like getting stopped.

At night with very dark tint on the front or front sides you are still a hazard....especially if your night vision is not very good.

They were doing that in Arizona 20 years ago- Or, they'd hand you the razor blade, and make you scrape it off, on the spot.

Your back three windows could be limo- front two- 35% max... ANything darker- scrape, scrape, scrape...

I think that tinting your windshield is a bit over the top I mean I used to have the 20% on my side windows and damn it was hard to see out of at night I hated it, but with 35% its still a bit hard to see. It would drive me crazy having to drive at night with a tinted windshield. There becoming better in my town now, I passed a cop today and he looked at me then looked down, I live in a small town with 2000 ppl and we have 3 full time town cops to cover about 10 square miles and a Ford Expy Truck Enforcement Vehicle which pulls over every tractor trailer that goes through town cause the rich ppl dont like the "smog" they produce.. ppl here need to get over themselves.

I watched a cop, who pulled my buddy over twice for illegal tint, start tearing it off himself. Neither me or my buddy were surprised. It's illegal. They can take it away. Why wouldn't they when numbskulls will do anything to spite them and keep it on?

It's stupid enough navigating around some punk with limo tint all the way around. Part of safe driving is being able to establish eye contact so you both know the other is aware.

It's profiling, again, but dark tint all the way around just makes you look like you think your a gangster or have something to hide.

That is true with the dark tint that you cant even see through, But at 35% you can still the outline of someone inside on a dark day and on a light day you pretty much see what there doing. But dlenkewich, where did you get you 3"rear like it says in your sig. Im looking to get a block and all can really seem to find is the readylift ones and I know there got to be one cheaper made by someone else cause readylift is expensive for everything.
