We usually go to 2 or 3 stores when shoping. Grocery, Target, Walmart, maybe Dillards, so need to put it inside. Plus, my wife does not want the bags dirty or wet, to go in the house.
I didn't mention traveling. The dog's crate fits perfectly inside the Screw along with all the luggage, etc. A lid on the back would be nice, but then I use my bed to haul stuff, so would be in the way. Having had both, I would really hate to go back to a Scab.

around here when we go shopping there is a United or Walmart, so we go to one or the other. I wouldn't know what to do with as many choices as you have. I dont crate my dog he just rides in the cab with me, probably why its covered in hair.
dont worry about motor. my 4.6 pulls pleanty hard. find a truck you like and dont worry about the motor. i would suggest and 07-08 4.6 tho they have like 15 more hp and it really is noticable. my gpa has an 05 4.6 and its a turd compared to mine.
we have an 06, 07, 08 f150 screws never had one problem out of one of them
we used to have an 01 w/ 75k miles sold in 02 for an 02 that i had up until 140k and never had a major problem
i would get a screw, you will be happy you did should make things much easier.
and if you live in virginia, im assuming you get icy roads and snow fairly often. 4x4 would be a big plus and make life much easier, dont cheap out on something that you probly need where you live. i would always see people in PA where i lived in two wheel drives struggling to get up the road to get home. my 4x4 has never had an issue, i still get 13-13.5 city with my 35's and my bad driving habits

Very unlikely, especially if you use Motorcraft SP plugs and run them in dry to 28 ft/lb. Breaking plugs in a 3V trying to remove them is MUCH more likely.
Suicide doors suck, and this is coming from somebody who has had 2 supercabs... Go with a 5.4 Supercrew in your choice of trim. They are stupid reliable vehicles. Just in case to make sure it isn't a lemon, get an OASIS report from the dealer. They are a report of what has been repaired while under warranty.

Thanks so much for the replies so far! It's great being in a car forum where everyone's so positive!
I would love a 5.4, and I might wait for one, but I found this vehicle (which I posted in a different thread). It's a 2004 4.6 with relatively low miles. Anybody think this vehicle is a bad idea? We see a heavy snow once ever 5 years or snow, and icy conditions maybe every other year, so a 4x4 just seems like added complexity that I don't need.
Any additional input would be greatly appreciated!

I know the 4.6's are very reliable. Not sure about the 2004's (Don't know why they wouldn't be).
The trucks make great road trip vehicles though. If you do, I would suggest looking into a tonneau cover for the bed of the truck if you arn't bringing your four legged friends along. This will get you a mpg or two on the highway and easily pay for itself after a few trips.
We have both a 2001 and 2006 F150 5.4 Liter. The 2001 just rolled over 220,000 miles, and the 2006 is reaching the 100,000 mark. Great trucks.

Very true.

I've always been a fan of the blue-oval, and thus subject to tirades and criticisms by Honda/German fan-boys around. So much so that I decided to try out the rice-rocket life for awhile and my only connection to the blue oval was the grocery-getting Mazda. Since then, I've had my first child and it's time to put childish things away and go more towards a family vehicle. Luckily, my wife abhors anything to do with "mini" and "van" and the thought of those two words in our drive way causes gastrointestinal reflexes (sometimes, you know you married a good woman).
I hope you stick around
