Post Fuel Prices!!!!!

I just heard a very disturbing news report. They are reporting, for So. Cal. (I'm sure it's the same everywhere), to expect gas prices to rise $.30, starting in April. I guess those oil tycoons don’t make enough money as it is, so they are cutting oil production.
I don’t know about anyone else, but gas is already $1.809/gal in San Diego, unless you want to buy from a Mom and Pop joint and hear pinging all day. I can’t imagine paying over $2 for a gallon of gas.
I guess when I traded my 16 mpg ’90 Bronco for my 18 mpg ’98 F-150, I should have bought a Geo.
Thanks for letting me vent…

Thumbs down

Ive heard from a bunch of people here in Illinois that by the end of this summer gas prices will be well over $2 a gallon, possibly even up to $3! I dont know if this is true, but its what i heard, that would suck if it happens. Now gas around here is about $1.40

Filled up Friday it was 1.29 a gallon but when I heard about production being cut back it made me sick knowing that it wont be long before its over 1.50 or higher around here.

Don't blame the oil co's for this one folks. You can thank your wonderful elected officials. This is how they're going to get us to drive electrics to and from work everyday within the next 10-15 years. Can't have all of our large pick-ups and suvs murdering Bambi and making us all get lung cancer you know. lol

So the fact that they (Opec) are cutting production starting 1 April has nothing to do with it?
You can't blame this on our elected officials, not this time.

If you really think that opec is 100% to blame for this then i've got a bridge i'll sell you real cheap. Its a tri-fecta if you will: Opec, Amer. oil companies, gov't. The by-product is higher profits for the oil co's, more taxes, smaller (and less safe for us) vehicles.

I guess the way that I look at this with the gas prices, is because they see the United States as a very wealthy country, and we have money to blow on gas....Personally, I won't give up my gas hog of a truck any day for a battery operated car...Until the day that I die.
If the government was thinking when the Gulf War was going on, they would have just ended the whole thing over in the middle east and just taken control of the countries that have the oil, and say tough, "We saved you, now you owe us for the rest of eternity"....However long that might be.
Or we could always just start drilling for oil in the United States......Granted not as cheap, but why import the oil when it is right under our feet???? Just my two cents....Wait, those two cents might just buy me my next gallon of gas....Nope not enough

Red face

It's not the price at the pump that has me overly concerned. I only put about 200 miles a week on the truck. A 50 cent increase would mean about $6-$7 a week.
If any of you guys own a boat, that is where I am scared to death. Gas at the marina is always 50 cents higher than gas stations! And I burn about 15 gallons per hour!!!!!
May have to spend more days at the dock sipping rum punch

It wont do too much good to drill for oil in the US. We have oil for days. What we dont have are any oil REFINERIES(sp?) Any oil that we dig up we would have to ship overseas to be refined and then ship it back to us. Probably not worth it. I was watching the news this morning and they said that we have not built a refinery in over 50yrs. As far as fuel goes, we have it stocked up to last for a while, but no where near long enough.

This is just like the gas crisis back in the day when gas went from 30 cents to 1 dollar. Everyone was saying there was no more gas. At the pump this may have been true, but in the tanks? Thats a bunch of *****! Look at it this way if you want a conspericey(sp).

Back in the day when gas was only .30 the big oil co's looked over at england and saw that they were paying over a dollar a gallon for fuel. That was a manufactured shortage. There was no shortage, but if every thinks there is, and there is nothing that can be done about it, then we may gripe, but we will accept it. Anybody care to guess how much gas is over in england right now? It's about 1.50 per liter. NOW then there are just under 4 LITERS per gallon. 6.00 per gallon. If they can get 6.00 per gallon over there, what makes you think they wont go for it over here?

6 bucks a gallon would kill the economy over here not to mention truck suv and anything else with a V8 under hood sales.

I know someone that works at an oil refinery and it isn't even close to being 50 years old.
