The dealer finally called with a truck for me! I wanted a 1999 Supercab with a 5 speed. Love to shift those gears and count my pennies! Dealer called with a 2000 Supercab, Styleside, 37,000 miles and within budget. Pick it up on Wednesday and it goes to the mechanic for a check-out on Thursday.

Anything I should look for or verify before saying "I do?"

My only concern is the mileage, but after looking at some of the mileage posts here, as long as it is cared for it should be fine. I trust my mechanic, but if you guys have anything special that I can look at as well, I'm all ears.

Let me say thanks to all of you. I've certainly learned a lot about F-150s here.

Hunt - get an Oasis report from the dealer if it's a Ford dealership or go to 1 & ask for it. All they need is the VIN. It will tell you what work has been done on the truck, what recalls, if any, need to be done, gives the exact build date instead of just month/year - it's invaluable! I wish I'd had the report on my truck before I bought it. I probably still would have taken the truck but I learned there was alot of damage to the rear end, tie rods & radio!
If you're not buying from a Ford dealer find 1 you would like to go to, tell them you've chosen them as the place to take your truck & they should be very happy to help & give the report to you. It's free & if there are any hidden problems you'll know in time & not find out later!

Cowlady, just ask the dealer for the report. No problem at all. Glad to do it. Now all I have to do is concentrate on work for 2 hours and then go get it. Pictures are forthcoming for sure!

 

Hunt, make sure your mechanic checks the spark plug assembly for corrosion. I picked up a 99 with a 5.4 v8 and with in a month and a half had to replace two different assemblies for about $300. The most important one to look out for is the one that sits under where the heater hose goes through the fire wall.

Thanks for all of the good comments. Picked it up 2 hours ago. She's a beaut! Electric red is the color, not maroon. Sharp. Has a rhino liner, tonneau top, bug shield, and window guards. I'll add a K&N air filter soon.

Great condition. Tomorrow is Zaino day!

Taking it in to the mechanic for the full review at 8:00 in the morning and then let the polishing begin!
