Question Home Sweet Georgia ??

I've noticed that there are quite a few of you on this board that are from Georgia - so I thought I'd ask a quick question.

My company just obtained a new contract in Newnan, and they are looking to fill a few positions. I have been contacted by the manager of the new contract, and he had asked me to come down and work for him.

Since I have never been to Georgia, can someone point me in the right direction to get some info on the area? I will need to get info on Newnan and surrounding areas - do you think this would be a nice area to settle down? My new wife and I have decided that it's time to purchase a house and start a family in the next few years. But, we're both 24 and still need a bit of "nightlife".

Any comments and/or information is welcome! Help my truck find a new home!

Sorry for such a long post! Thank you!

I am from a couple of miles north in Carrollton. Not much going on there but Atlanta is a couple of miles NE on I-85 plenty going on there.

Hey Loco,
I myself live about an hour N of Newnan but I have a good fried that lives there...it is a very nice place although not too much of a night life.

Housing seems pretty reasonable and is going up in value quickly.
It can be a bit on the country side but there are some ares around there that are booming.

As for refrence material on the area you might try the local Atlanta paper

http://www.ajc.com

They should have some good links to home values (including Newnan areas) and things to do.

Good luck

See: http://www.newnan.com That should give you enough information. By your title, looks like you might make some decent money, so in that case, I would recommend taking a close look at Peachtree City. Peachtree City is a made community.

G'Luck and Welcome!

And forget how you've been pronouncing the name of the state, goneloco.
It's not "George-uh"
Repeat after me: "J'yaw'-ja"....."J'yaw'-ja"....."J'yaw'-ja"

Hey Everyone!

Thanks for the input on the area! This might turn out to be a BIG move for my wife and I. I just moved to Indiana from Iowa in January 2000, and she followed in August. We're really not too keen on the whole packing up and moving idea!

I'm still in the "research" stage - both the community and the job. I'm also trying to convince the wife that moving will be a good thing - it would be seen as a 'lateral' move within the company - usually not something someone would move that far for. That may have the largest impact on the decision. I see it as a good thing, she's not too sure...

It sounds like the area in particular would be very nice place to call home- small enough to make us feel welcome (we're both from small towns in Iowa!); yet a major metropolitin area is just up the road!

Lookout, guys! A few more northerners might be moving in! (There goes the neighborhood!

Now I need to work on my pronunciation....

I moved from a small town in Iowa myself (LeMars). I live north of Atlanta in a suburb. It was a major culture shock coming from a town of 8000 to a city of 3mil, but I won't go back (if I can help it). The weather here is great. Not much snow to speak of, but still a seasonal change to enjoy. Only problem here is traffic!
