Thanks for letting us know, geeky666. As a result of bringing Ed Roth's death to our attention, I decided to write a tribute to him for publication in the "Wheels" section of our local daily newspaper, for which I am a freelance reporter. For all Roth fans, here it is:

http://www.ottawacitizen.com/wheels/010420/5040340.html

------------------
Black 2000 SC short-box XLT. 4.2 V-6, 5-speed, 3.55 limited-slip. CD, remote entry, factory side steps, FORD box liner, rear fender inner splash shields (TSB 00-09-05).

My third F-series ordered new. The other two: '73 F-100 Custom, 240 cube 6, 3 on the tree, tan, "West Coast" mirrors, step bumper, knitted vinyl seat, AM radio; and '98 F-150 SC short-box XL, XLS package, Pacific Green, 4.2 5-speed, 3.55 LS, FM-cassette.

GREAT trucks!

Craig,
Good informative article, it’s nice to see someone not dwell on the negative aspects of his life. I spoke with him a few years ago at Hot August Nights in Reno, he was as relaxed and kicked back as ever. I attended JHS and HS with two of his sons. One of his sons, who will remain nameless, used to sell dads decals and patches at junior high school for discounted prices to raise spending money. I try to have positive memories of those gone, thanks for the memories.

I didn't know that, and Roth was a *HUGE* part of my automotive fantasies for decades, he will be well remembered, and sorely missed.

I haven't had a chance to read that article yet "shifter", but I will, & thank in advance for writing about him in your paper!

RIP, Ed Roth.
