In the case of this death, it is a terrible thing. Those people are hiding something.
I have locked gates and they just bust them down. But I do spike my roads, and have cost trespassers plenty in punctured tires. What gets me most, is they get mad, and start threatening me. But that land is part of my income, and it helps support my Family. Plus the beer cans and broken glass people love to leave behind is unacceptable. I've had to go out in the middle of the night dozens of times to put fires out that people leave behind. It can be a nightmare. One year during a drought, there were three volunteer fire departments out there fighting run away fires. Do people realize who gets the bill for fire extinguishing?
It just gets old and tiresome, having to fight violators. Even down to physical altercations with drunk red necks. Then About ten years ago I got sewed for breaking a guys arm. I won in Court, but it cost me time and money.

^^ this is the property these murders were defending.

I taught high school for 4 years in Liberty Co. Texas. I know for a fact that people live like this. As part of our new teachers orientation, we took a bus tour of our school's district to see where our students live and their commute times. Unpaved roads, trashed out mobile homes, and shanties like this are common place. Generational poverty, extreme paranoia, and chemical dependency plague the population. During our orientation tour we encountered a dozen or so posted signs similar to this one. Meth is an enormous problem in this largely rural, economically stagnant area.

There was another post in this thread, that said Indiana was the crystal meth capital. It may be , but I think it is everywhere in rural areas.
I have lost friends to that plague.

As Oxlander posted above, that is true of this area also. There are people that will smile while killing you. there are also plenty of place to sink bodies too.

Bill

He was going for a gun, all I did was kick the door of his truck shut on his arm. He wanted to get hostile, even though he was the one in the wrong.

Yea thats helped to drop the crime rate in Canada. I have to agree, it is a tragic incident and I think the dead boys parents need to suck up some of the blame for this for teaching their kids how to trespass and use property without asking permission. I have a feeling the "lovely" couple might win on that but it in no way dismisses their irresponsibility or failure to ask questions first. Yes, in this case it would of been good to ask questions first, kids were present.

Guns arent the problem. Lack of self responsibility and morality is, concepts I'm sure were short supply on both sides.
