Software Help: .NET Framework 2.0

So I reformatted my Windows XP last month and today i tried installing a program today and it cancelled saying I needed .NET Framework 2.0. Well my computer should already have it, so I go to Microsoft, and try reinstalling it. Halfway through the install it stops and backtracks. I uninstall and try .NET 3.0, 3.5, and 3.5 SP1 and none of them will install. Any help?

How many of those hits have you looked at? I'm a computer professional and that's exactly what I'd have to do to fix it.

How about trying to update it through Windows update. Open IE, click on Tools, Windows Update. Choose Custom install, Then look under the high priority link on the left.
If its not there for download, choose Software, Optional. Let me know if this works. I work in IT also for the gov.
