1968 Plymouth Valiant 225 slant 6 four door. This isn't mine. I found the pic on the web.
Bought mine in 1981 for $225 off my uncle. It was puke green. I popped off the hubcabs and painted the wheels with "West Virginia chrome" paint. My buddy and I did the sheet metal and bondo body work to it and I had a $75 paint job put on it; Mack truck red. I repainted the wheels black, tinted the windows, had a jamming Radio Shack cassettte w/ 6x9s.
A unique feature on it were the fresh air vents. They were boxes with doors on them under the dash you would open to vent the car. They would fit exactly two 12oz. cans of Old Milwaukee in each vent box. On a cold night, you could put your brews in "the fridge", and drive down the road a ways and they would be cold in no time.
I had it up to 110 once; the hood and steering wheel shook like heck. That slant 6 would not die. We tried. All the fun stopped on night when I took a 20mph downhill turn at 50. Slid off the road and hit a tree on the back door. Drove it to the junkyard.

Next car was '74 Maverick Grabber. That's another story.

1966 vintage burgundy Mustang coupe w/289 & C4. Bought for $1100 with co-signature from my Dad who passed away less than a year thereafter. That car and my Dad were the best.

P.S. This is my 100th post!

Wink

In 1974 I had a 53 Dodge pickup, Deluxe model. Dad also purchased a 55 to haul junk and we found a 51 with a rebuilt motor to replace the flat head 6 that I blew. Spent a whole summer doing the body repairs. Friend painted a nice metallic blue on Labor Day weekend and the following Saturday night I rear ended some overly cautious person in an intersection, spoiling all that bondo work! Gee I miss that truck, but the memories will never fade.

First was the 1952 Ford Mainline Sedan. Pulled it out of my great aunts garage when she passed away and had fun with it in high school in the 70's. Now, 39 vehicles later, still driving Fords.

Mine was a silver 1985 Ford Ranger. It was a nice ride, but sadly I wrecked it less than 6 months after I bought it.

My first car was a Vega GT that I had to share with my brother. We both drove that little car allot, washed and cleaned on it and I even had one of those great teenage encounters with a young lady in the front seat of that little car at the drive in theatre (now remember this is a small car to begin with and it was a stick shift with bucket seats ). Funny I hadn't thought about that car and those memories and many others until just now writing this post. The cars in our lives in a way are the stories of our lives; the places where we were, the times that were then, the things we did are all a part of us. Maybe that is why we are drawn here on this list because when we think of those things, generally pleasent memories are there and we are still living with them in the present and wanting to create more of those memories for the future to be able to look back on. I guess it goes on and on. Take care,
