Hauling your dog.
Not a bad idea. I have a good friend that is a vet. Maybe he has one he wants to get rid of OR he might order me one at his cost and a little extra.
You know if a guy put a little thought into it he could come up with a sturdy kennel like the wire ones MADE for truck beds with hooks for ratchet straps, a shade top, possible fold up or some other type of way to quickly affix and release from truck bed. It would not be so high $$ as the aluminum dog boxes but close in quality and ease of use.

Actually not a bad idea. I know they have all sorts of high dollar, bling bling crates for hunting dogs. Stuff like this:

But something for the normal Joe, cheaper and easy, plus safe for the dog and MADE for a truck bed. Good idea.

Exactly.
Most of those are used in cooler weather when hunting but hot summer time it may not have enough good ventilation. Fabricated aluminum is really $$$$.
My dog doesn't care if its 0 degrees or raining. He loves it all. I think he is part Bassett/part Lab. My vet thinks so anyways. He is all Bassett body but black and white in color with a Lab snout. Medium floppy ears. Very gentle. Name is Chopper. He has an upside down white "C" marking on his lower back.

This may sound trite... not meant to.
I trained my dog to keep all feet inside the bed of the truck. No paw higher than the wheel-well.
Nore was she allowed to jump in or out before the tailgate was all the way down.
Worked well for me, and she LOVED to go for rides in the truck.

Texas A&M. Im excited. I wish I was the class of '12 instead of '13. That way I could have '12 on my ring. Ive wanted to go there for years and now that its getting really close Im getting crazy excited. Already signed the lease at Reville Ranch apartment complex and am ready to move in. To bad I dont move in till august...

could be mounted in the middle of the bed, and made to not let those paws get up on the sides.
Here is a buddies idea for his wheeling rig:
Hope that helps some, and isn't too late.

I'm gonna be building a rear roll cage for my flatbed using tightly woven window netting/fine mesh to keep paws/legs from getting crushed. I'll use the "buckle up pups" harness tied to the floor. The "dog area" will be a padded rectangle using H20-proof vinyl over high density foam that will have snaps sewed into the bottom (and then snapped to the deck and to the four "walls"). Thus, they'll have padding all around. If you do it right, the padding can then be arranged in the tent for a mattress... If you live around water/boating this can be done for cheap by a boating upholstery place...

THAT is a great idea. I may go with one of those buckle up pups. Looks like a good product. I need something totally safe and positive for him. If I get it I'll do a review here with pics.
I take my Golden Retriever with me in my Supercab with no issues. Even in the truck bed. I basically put a blanket in the back seat and let him lay down or he will sit up and look out the window.
Now the truck bed is the best. He will get up near the glass and sit down looking out the back of the truck at everyone as we drive down the highway. Most ppl just wreck when they finally figure out what he is. He will turn his head to look at you if you pass us.
