Census 2010
Census 2010
Door bell rang, dog alerts. I answer and a gal wanting to know what my address is, handed me a piece of paper. I go outside with her, looking to make sure my address, neatly screwed to the outside of my house hadn't disappeared for some reason. Then made sure the street signs, a whole 30 ft. from my house hadn't got stolen the night before. Wondering why she would ask what my address is when a monkey could figure it out. She clearly stated that I need to comply with United States Code, Title 13 (Section 9, 141, 193, 214, and 221) and title 44 (Section 2108) Bla, Bla Bla. Holding the piece of paper in my hand, answering ridiculous questions about my (Dwelling) I finally got a chance to look at the paper she handed me.

On the flip side it was in English. Being the jerk I am, I crumpled it up and handed it back to her, told her to come back when I can read everything in English. Just a little rant, no biggie.

got the same exact one a few days ago. lady just asked me my house number. im curious as to why they dont ask how many people live there? but it must suck doing that as your probably not the only one who has gone off like that...
Its pre work for the actualy 2010 census, ya know.....in 2010. They verify addresses first, so when the census actually takes place, they know their database is up to date and correct.
Thank you for the compliment, I told you I was a jerk, and I'd kick you off my property as well if you handed my a important document that I couldn't read. Real Fast. It wasn't the form I got that bothered me. It was the questions, how many bedrooms do you have? How many bathrooms do you have etc. Not once did she ask me how many people live here? I don't think it's any of thier business how many bedrooms do I have.

What they should have asked is if there were any additional living quarters on the property such as an apartment or if your house is a multi-unit structure rather than just a single-family home, nothing more at this point.
The title 13 paper goes to file 13 pretty fast usually, but if they do make contact at the residence, they are required to give you one. The reason it is in Spanish on one side is because Spanish is also an official language of the United States.
How many bedrooms you have is not really an appropriate question at this point, they will ask all of that next year, but they will mail you a form and only come back out if you don't send it back in.
It is required by law to participate, and it is mandated by the United States Constitution, so if you kick them off of your property, someone with more authority will be back and so on and so on and eventually, you'll cooperate, even if you can't read it. We all will.

You did? I'm sorry my educated self must not have read that part where you said "I am a jerk" Next time I will read the invisible lines. And thank you pickup man for posting the long portion that I did not think others cared about. I mean it IS legal information and since 1776 things have been on the books. But others have their own personal agenda that actually trumps what is REAL and FAKE. Next time I will be sure to look past the truth and only read what I believe and want to be real.
Numerous things in this country are real, like it or not. Believe it and accept it, or leave.
