The one in San Antonio brought about 6-8000 people to see Glenn Beck broadcast his show live from in front of the Alamo. Ted Nugent played the Star Spangled Banner on his electric guitar and spoke to the crowd. It was quite a deal to listen to all of the speakers and the crowd that has had enough of the morons in Washington and the absurd spending going on. For those that have been to the Alamo, the crowd took up all of Alamo Plaza and over each way for 2 blocks. It was a huge crowd! Nugent called for Fedzilla to back off and give the people that make this country great a chance to work for what they have instead of Obamas wealth redistribution programs. As he calls it he is Fed up with the Feds. There were quite a few Impeach Obama signs in the crowd.
Down the road at Austin, Texas Governor Rick Perry signed off on a resolution yesterday confirming this States Rights as guaranteed by the Constitution Amendment 10. He CLEARLY stated that the folks in Washington has better reread the Constitution and get it right. He also CLEARLY stated that if they don't get the message, they may continue on but Texas may not be part of the USA anymore......that's a first for a Texas Governor to make such a statement. It was also a point that got him a standing ovation. For those not in the know, Texas was never brought into the Union as required under the Constitution. Texans NEVER got to vote for Statehood and as such, Texas can leave at any time. It's been circulating around that there are 5 other States that have gotten together with folks from Texas about forming another Nation. I doubt it happens but never say never. I've always heard of folks talking about Texas as an independent Nation but it is a common conversation now a days. Folks here are not happy with Washington and are getting angry about it. Angry Texans are a forced to be reckoned with. We are not Sheeple here.

I couldn't make the one in Atlanta, but saw Beck earlier. It looked to me like the one at the Alamo had at least 10,000 people.
I read where there was an estimated 1-1.2 million at the parties nationwide.
What is funny is how the CNN anchors were condescending in their attitude to the demonstrators. It was a sight to behold !
I personally would like to see Texas secede. And yes, it is constitutional.

FWIW: on a side note during the aftermath of Katrina Louisiana talked about breaking away from the Nation due to the political turmoil that followed the storm and the goverments response or lack there of that we were getting at the time.

Yeah, the local news folks are saying 10,000 but I think that's a little high. The event went on all day and into the evening so maybe there was 10,000 total. It seems some of the folks apparently didn't want to go home. I heard on some of the news reporting agency's that we were "terrorists". Nugent played that one up pretty good. I can only hope these same people get out and vote this November for Senate seats. Like I've said before, I don't care who you vote for but vote the current idiot out regardless of party. Maybe if we dilute the Professional Senators with enough newbies, then maybe we can get term limits and not make Washington a life long job of making money off of the taxpayers.
La. was one of the States I've heard that is willing to join Texas as a Nation. Unfortunately, they would have to get rid of some of the trash that lives there for Texans to be game for that. We got Katrina trash all over the State now and they even have their very own crime units. Yeah, I know not everybody there is like that but from what we have seen from the morons that come over here in their shiny Escalades with $10,000 worth of tires and wheels but want a hand out for gas to go back home is just not something we tolerate much of here. If you can't afford the gas you have stayed closer to home.

There were 3 events in my town.
I could not make the largest one at 4:30 pm, so I went to the first one at City Hall at noon.
My estimate was about 250 people there (fairly small outdoor space), despite windy and cold weather. The newspaper website says 150 in attendance, lol. That is a way low estimate.
I'm sure the 4:30 event had much more.
There was supposed to be a third one at the main post office at 5:00 pm.
Crowd was well behaved at the one I went to. A few speakers, but hard to hear over the wind. Lots of diversity amongst the signs - mostly calls to lower taxes, slow govt spending, 'Don't tread on me' signs, etc...

Heard a caller on Glen Beck say there were 3,500 at our 'big' one in Bakersfield.
Newspaper headline: 'Steaming Mad: Hundreds of Bakersfield residents turn out to voice their fustration over nation's tax system"
Excuse me? Hundreds? Shouldn't that headline be thousands?

In all seriousness, the constitution does not grant rights to succeed. Texas residents, and its governor, may want to look into the 14th amendment. You'll find a clause that states the citizenship is granted by the country they were born, and not the state, a definition of natural citizenship so to speak.
But then again, with Spanish quickly becoming the primary language and the refusal of giving failing grades I don't expect much. Maybe just an Absolut World.
Yeah, I think the turn outs would have been much larger on a weekend or holiday. I'll bet there will be many similar events on 4th of July.
I'm self employed, and went to the only event I could make, at noon. Many if not most of the people at the noon event were retired.
From the pics in our paper and on the news, the one that started at 4:30 had much more in the way of working age folks.

Seems like this conversation was brought up once before when 13 other states attempted to secede from the US. It ended up costing them their help.
