wait just read he wants it for WOW....that is NOT a gaming computer period

yeah...but I doubt he will pay for anything under 300. He knows it will lag. What do you guys think he should get that's still really cheap?
In fact the only reason he is getting one is for WoW.

Hahaha yeah I knew it wouldn't be the best but wouldn't it do fine for solo, and just lag on the busy realms? My computer has a 2.8 gz dual core processor, with 1 gig ram, xp pro, and a geforce 7300 LE w/512 mb. Its plenty fast for almost anything, and I figured it would work fine for WoW too.

ha, you know what i mean. I may just have to tell this guy that hes gonna have to spend a lot more for decent play, but he doesn't have much money.
Here's the thing though, he just wants to be able to play. If it freezes a lot or is so slow he cant accomplish anything then yeah its not for him, but if it lags hes fine with that. He's asking for a very low price.

No, it won't be enough for a MMO. I don't play WoW, but I have played some MMOs in the past little bit (fairly recent), and it takes 2G of ram IMO minimum, you definitely won't do any pvp with that setup. For that, I would go all the way to 3G.
Also, ATI kinda sucks for MMO play, I would try to go Nvidea Gforce 8600 (sp?) or higher.
If you want to play and run like crap and take over 10 minutes to do anything and even sometimes crash the game altogether, upgrade to 1G. If you want to do anything at all (still not heavy pvp), upgrade to 2G.

It'll work adaquately honestly. He wont be able to crank the settings up and have full effect of the pretty pixel world but gameplay should be fine.
I played FFXI on a laptop that was slightly weaker than that and had no issues as long as I ran in medium settings. The only real issue on that system is the video card and memory. Not much you can do with the video card, but upgrade to 1 gig of ram for cheap and it'll be fine. Won't be pretty, but it'll run fine.
And no he wont be able to play any of the newer games that require real video cards with that system. But for under $300, you get what you pay for.

I have a similar computer but mine is a Dell D630. I have an 80GB HD and 2GB Ram. It might handle those games but I have never tried. It's a company computer so I can't load any software on it. But as far as locking up, running slow, I rarely have any of those problems.

I have a Dell D640 sitting right next to me and there is no way it will ever be confused with a gaming computer. I highly doubt it would run Age of Empires if ya want the truth, let alone WoW. It is a sloooow computer and this one is clean- no major programing at all. While I can't say about the 610 model, this 640 runs dam HOT!!!!!!! It's not a deal at any price in my opinion. It's a good trotline weight though.
Edit: I just fired this POS up and it is a P4 CPU@2.00Ghz with 1GB ram and it ain't near enough for a gaming computer....unless you want a game to take all day.
