My girlfriend is white, I am black. She says that owning a big truck like what you see here on F150 Online is a symbol of white supremacy and isn't fit for a black man. I think that these trucks and the 4x4 scene are absolutely fantastic, and the idea that it symbolizes white supremacy is absurd...

But there is more to it. She is from Bakersfield, CA.. A predominately white town, where a lot of her now ex-friends were racist and made comments referring to black people and these vehicles. You know.. The "N" word and such. Yes there are a good amount of racists out there, but we live in the big city, the melting pot if you will.. She thinks that if I get a truck like this I might become a target of racism.

What do you all think??

I've got an F150 and I'm working on my tan.

There's only one color that determine's what you drive, green.

 

Who cares what people think? Drive what makes ya happy...and a big, honkin' four-wheeler is just what the doctor ordered!

I say go for it man, racism sucks, but in one of my Criminal Justice professors favorite statements, "we do live in a real world." You can see a description of my truck in my signature, and being a 20 year old black male, I do get some evil looks sometimes, and even moreso when they see the Highway Patrol license plate on the front.But my suggestion is buy what makes you happy and what fits your needs, and don't worry about what other people think.

Violent Hiro - First of, do what ever makes you happy, period.

Second - I live in Jersey, we have numerous 'in the closet racists' around her and none that I know consider trucks a 'white thing'.

Third - I am a white male, my girlfriend is a black female and she would hurt me if I got rid of this truck.

Fourth - If you want I give you email addresses and names of many black males (and females or other races) that want or own big trucks like f150's, Expy's, Chevy's, Navi's, etc.

Remember what makes you happy is more important. Hell if both of you are smaller people (I'm 5'4) your g/f will come to love the backseat of the truck.

 

Oh and for those who don't get the truck/white supremecy thing, watch any movie with old racist things in the south, all the members of the KKK always drive around in a truck, thats how hollywood portrays everything.

Definately get one life is too short do what you can to be happy. I am white and know this guy from back home who is black and he wants my truck when i get it done but i wont sell and he really doesnt want to get rid of his mustang (which is nice!!!!!) to buy it. His wife is white but she likes the 'stang better than a truck

Seriously, though. There are racists everywhere, but I wonder just how many rednecks live in CA? I could imagine your girlfriend's view would make some sense in the south, but California?
