I have had many different people, from many different races compliment me on my truck.....and they ask questions about it as well.

Violent Hiro, I used to believe in the whole racisim thing...but I was raised in that type of environment...since I grew up..both physically and mentally, I have realized that race, sex, religion, even sexual orientation, or whatever, doesn't make one bit of difference, as long as you are doing or sticking to what you like, and/or believe in. RACISIM SUCKS!!!!!!!!! Hel-lo...it's 2001 people...get a grip on reality....to prejudge any individual or group for any of the above mentioned reasons, is totally ludicrous (sp?). Every person has their own personality. I have known a lot everyone, and have run across my fair share of a$$holes. Not because they are white, or black, or Asian, or jewish, or homosexual, or anything like that...they were jusy plain out a$$holes.
Man, go for it, buy the truck you want. (Just make sure you keep the female happy somehow, or your life will be hell).
Maybe someday everyone will see things the way we do. I hope.

I thought I never would own a truck as I aways had fast cars I had 4 mustangs then I decided to get a truck and got one then I got alot rude coments from guys I work with saying I was a redneck wanna be as I moved down here from up north I just told them I'll drive what I want to drive if I can afford it and don't care what others think of it.

I had a black friend who forbid me to buy a cadillac. (I needed a large vehicle) He said he would never ride in it, because every one would make fun of him.
I didn't want it bad enough to get it, but if he had said anything about "white supremists" involving Vehicle Choices (or anything else for that matter) I would have ditched HIM as a friend.
I have NO friends that are racist (that I know) of as I will simply not tolerate it.
There are too many good people out there to be bothered with the idiots.
No human is supreme and we are all the same color in the inside.

 

Just a 41 year old 100% grey haired Irish American here, and as all AMERICANS should feel,, If an AMERICAN person wants an AMERICAN truck,, that AMERICAN person should have an AMERICAN truck. And yes, racism bites. People unfortunatelly need to rag about something, so they go straight for their insecurities. I mean that as going both ways, no matter what a persons ancestorial origin. We're all human beings. End of story......

Don't buy into the racism thing. The only racism thing you will run into with your truck will be people who gripe about your truck being too big. Racism makes me sick to my stomach. God created us all equal. The color of one's skin has no bearing on anything at all.

As far as what color you are, it simply does not matter. If people want to make a deal out of someone driving a particular vehicle based on race, be above it. It simply does not matter.

What does matter is your extremely good taste in trucks! Good job, and I join every one in this thread in welcoming you to the brotherhood of truck drivers. If you are in NE Tennessee and see a big ole SuperCrew with Tennessee tags that say "BURN H2O", (my company designs industrial technology that burns industrial wastewater, thus the burn water tag.) wave to me, and I'll wave right back at ya.

Ironically, it sounds as if your GF has the biggest problem with this. I live in a middle class, mostly white, rural neighborhood. Of the ten or so F-150s on my street one is owned by the black family across the street. It's a 98 White/Grey 4x4 XLT SuperCab. I have not met the whole family but I know that their kids are some fo the nicest and most polite kids I have met. It's cool as hell to me that they have that truck. Now if I could get them to turn that country music down a bit!

ON the other side of the coin, I have many tenants that are minorities. About half black and half hispanic. There is a wall between the black tenants and white landlords that will never come down. Me and my landlord buddies are victims of racism in this scenario. We are white landowners that drive F-150s and work long days to provide the best quality housing possible. Somehow, we are the villain? I will never understand that. They rebel against everything. I get flipped off and cussed out a few times a week by people I have never met just because I am a landlord. I am not a slumlord either, I even give the tenants X-mas gifts.

I know if I were black, I would buy what I like and the hell with everyone else. Even my girlfriend. Buy the F-150, and then buy a matching Harley Fat Boy or a Honda Gold Wing, that should get her going. You only live once regardless of color, enjoy these wonderful toys the world has to offer.

 

The thought of race and truck never has entered into my mind. I think Raoul said it right, the only color that shows is GREEN.

 

Just to add to the topic. Similar situation with me. The wife is white (full blood italian) and I'm hispanic. I love customizing my rides, I've done it with all of them except for an Eclipse Spyder which was leased. So to continue with the story, the nicest thing you will ever hear from my wife about my cars is "you look like one of those teenage white trash kids doing all that s**t to you cars". And you know what I do about it? Absolutely nothing. Tinkering with my truck makes me feel good and that's all that matters. In a way a still feel like a teenager inside, except than now I have a real job and more money to buy things for my truck. So Violent Hiro, don't let this stuff get you. Racist people will be everywhere. Do what feels good without getting in other people's way. Every time I hear comments about me being Hispanic I pay no attention for they have far worse problems trying to hide the way they actually feel: threatened and inferior. So if you like your big white truck 4 feet off the ground, just go for it.

There are 2 times in your life that you don't care WHO your neighbor is: Birth, and Death. Everything in between those two events will be based on the choices you make. Maybe you need the bumper sticker "My girl said if I got this truck she'd leave me. Man, I'm gonna miss her."

Like so many others have posted, skin color has NOTHING to do with having a truck. That is just a ploy for her to control you. People used to tell me that trucks were for guys only. Well, I am 100% woman and just LOVE my truck! Now when those ex-naysayers see me, they realize how much this truck fits me! Not to mention how happy I am to have it! The lesson: If you always live for someone else, you will never be happy. Make your decisions based on what YOU want and need. Not on someone else's impression of what's best for you. It's YOUR life, drive around in whatever you deem fit.
