OK...I said I wouldn't post again, but having read your reply thought I would at least comment on your more reasoned arguement.
I said I had held guns....I have in fact used top quality guns for skeet and target practice, many years ago in a very limited way., hence do know what it feels like. I now, against my better judgement, have a very high powered air rifle purely for vermin.....and I hate using it. But of course it is not designed for anything other than rodents etc.
Even to kill a squirrel sends a shiver down my spine and I have no concept of killing anything else.
As a lad I borrowed my grand dads air rifle and shot at a swallow, never imagining it would be hit.
It dropped dead at my feet and I felt aweful, and from that age of around 10 knew I could never easily kill another living thing.

So when are you finally going to get the message that it IS guns that kill people and the deranged idiots that can get hold of them so easily.
I'm sick of hearing the bland statement that guns don't kill people and that idiotic "Right to bear arms" nonsense that might have held some credence 100 years ago...but not in the 21st century.
What would be said if 2 fully laden jumbo jets crashed on the same day each week.
Because 600 is the number of people killed in the US by gun wielding idiots.
Of course I forgot...it's so manly to hold a gun isn't it.....so it's alright then.

Hitler tried to take over Germany only 65 years ago. What did he do first? He banned all guns from the citizens. Its hard to believe that this could happen here in America. But everyday When you listen to the news Its sounding more and more like Pre-war Germany in this country.

It doesnt matter what you do, if someone wants a gun they are going to get one anyway. Its the same with anything.
There are speed limits arent there? If people want to speed they are damn well going to speed. Remember prohibition? Yeah, that worked just great didnt it. Its all the same thing! If people want something, they are going to do/get it!
Even by BANNING guns, there are still going to be people with them. Its been said 100 times before in this thread...would you rather lay down like a bish and beg for you life at the mercy of some punk's index finger because you cant even protect yourself (serious, what are YOU going to do when you have a gun at your face? Talk to him?? Hit him with a stick while he laughs and puts one through your cranium?) , or would you rather be able to protect yourself and even save OTHER peoples lives by taking care of the problem...easily done if you can even out the playing field by having a gun. Just the thought of other people having a gun and fighting back can be enough to make a criminal think twice about what they are going to do.

Don't even bother replying anymore with logical reason as to why we would need a gun to protect ourselves, there is no answer for this and as you can see, no response to any good reason why we would need them. It doesn't support "his" argument, so he convenently ignores this fact, choosing to argue other points that can be countered with such thoughts as "Well, we don't need them" and "We don't have as much crime as you".
Didn't John Han**** sign the Declaration of Independence big enough? Wasn't the shot heard Around the World loud enough? We don't want your laws!

I'm actually a mild mannered person.Ijust hate narrowed minded people like the OP! I don't understand why my post would frighten anyone. All i said was that i would take any measure possible to protect myself or my family if someone threatened our lives.

I'm a gun loving American. Guns have always been in my life. I grew up around them, and learned to respect them. They have always been treated like any other safely used inanimate object in my home.
Sometimes, when I read things said on the Internet, I feel just like Serota stated. I'm definitely not for gun control. But with Crazy assed people, killing for no reason keep doing it. We will have gun control of some kind. We can whine and cry about it. But abuse is always what takes privileges away. Yes I did say privilege. It is our constitutional right to have a gun. But our constitution is a living document. It was written to never be finalized.
There are crazy people out there with guns. Believe me, carrying a gun don't make you safer, you are just as likely to become part of the problem, if you interfere in a hostile situation.
