at first, we was scared at work. but alot of other steel fab shop started closing their doors. so, we ended up with all of their work that they had along with ours, and getting even more jobs now. just landed a 7 million ton job for iron in china for a oil platform that will keep us going for awhile. and another one in russia. i say we are doing fine. Exxon, Shell, and BP are our biggest customers. we also have several airports that we might get if our bid is good.

Things are grim the steel sector. I work in a steel mill. Orders have dropped off bigtime and it's hurting us really really bad. On top of that bad news, they instituted a 5% pay cut and ZERO overtime pay. That really stinks as I make 25% more per year just on OT.

This is the best year my work has ever had. We build stamping dies for the automotive industry. We are currently on unlimited hours and I am usually getting 65 plus hours a week. Then on top of that with the cost of houses now i purchased a nice house for about half of what it was worth a few years ago.

Not so great here. I build KW trucks for a living and our downturn actually started over 2 years ago. We are building half the amount of trucks we were building. We have only worked about a handful of 5 day work weeks since last May. Several 2 week shutdowns and many 3 and 4 day weeks. Im actually off right now for 2 weeks. I get unemployment when we are down a whole week so its not so bad. They did just cut the 401K matching down to basicly nothing. Rumors of paycuts are coming next, so who knows.

Wife is in management in the medical field and its fairly stable but they did cut out all their OT. We are able to buy what we need but we do spend our money more wisely. Thankfully we paid some things off and I only bought as much truck as I needed. Holding off on all remodeling projects and what not. Looks like its gonna be a bumpy ride.

Tell them thanks for the purchase! Now, see if you can talk them into maybe another 100 or so. Those 660's are nice!!

I recently heard of one school district in Arizona that laid off 100's of teachers. Me---I have been with my school district so long that I am #3 on the list of seniority. Pay raise for next year is not looking too good, but hey, I have a pretty darn good job.

Got to find better job, myself.
I sell cans of spaghetti door to door, and I don't have any repeat customers.
