Wow... Obama insults the disabled.
i somewhat agree and understand what you are saying. i have a 22 year old daughter with down syndrome. i have worked hard at treating her as normal as possible. because of having her in regular ed classes she has learned to give it back as well as recieve it. my biggest problem with this is the president who is supposed to be above this uses whatever came to mind to make a quick joke. there are to many people that cant think for them selves and will equate the president said it so it must be ok.
yes i am biased to what he says because i think very little of the guy as a person or the president. the guy is a political opportunist and leach. just like pelosi, dodd, frank, reid etc.

What I think of Obama and the rest of the people you named off, is not forum appropriate, and I don't feel like getting banned for saying what how I actually feel about them.
Discrimination
Personally as a healthy and mobile bi-ped I feel utterly discriminated against when I attempt to park at Home Depot or Best Buy....in fact I have taken to "parking in handi-cap spaces while handi capped people make handi capped faces".......Sometimes I even drive slow in the ultra fast lane while people behind me are going insane.... None of that is actually true but I had to say it.
That was for Dennis Leary LOL.
Anyway, what was that Johnny Knoxville spoof where he got into special olympics? You guys can't be serious about Obama's comment....Please, the guy isn't Jesus but we continue to hold our presidents to those very standards while we demand things that Jesus probably wouldn't approve of.....
Who gives a crap man. This is all about that sense of entitlement people have adopted and god forbid you make a joke in passing them. Its crap. I am sure Obamalama will do plenty for the handicapped people of America including increasing the handicapped parking spaces at home depot so the quadrapalegics can load their 4x8 sheets of plywood easier......wait a minute......
See what I mean, people make idiotic decisions based on the sense of entitlement that people have become infected with.
Too many band aids people and not enough good decisions taking place. Imagine if the media had put this much energy into broadcasting our achievements instead of the crap. Personally I don't want to watch the news anymore. Not saying I am going to stick my head in a hole, but the fact of the matter is that rather than hearing about the good we can do and achieve, people would rather bitch and moan about how bad the other guy is doing instead of manning up and making changes in their own life. People need to start trying to be an example. People need to be conscious of their habits including everything we consume.
In regards to the handicapped issue, it is important as a society that we take into account the challenges others face everyday and this includes the things we non-handicapped people take for granted such as walking, access to various places, etc.... Furthermore we should contribute to medical research that could better the lives of these people and perhaps eliminate some of those issues all together (stem cell research, etc...).
Just some ideas......
Ok, I am stepping off the soap box.

Ok, I am stepping off the soap box.
So, Bush has six years of a Republican Congress and finds his Veto pen one time.
His last two years with a Democratic Congress he whips out the Veto pen ten times.
Now what was that lone veto for....?
hmmmm, oh yeah Stem Cell Research.
The stuff Micheal Fox was begging for when Rush said he was jumping around for effect.
I don't think Rush was making a joke on Leno when he did that.
So, Obama overturns Bush's first Veto by Executive Order 45 days after taking Office and gets tarred and feathered for something stupid about his bowling score.
And the name of this thread is "Wow... Obama insults the disabled"
How ironic.
Why couldn't he be more Presidential like the last guy.

i guess the republicans are giving the same respect to this president as the democrats gave to bush. except they arent as nasty. and when they do criticize obamalamadingdong they do it with facts.
and as for the disabled wether it be physical or mental they work twice as hard to achieve in alot of cases half as much as "normal people".
and as for the handicap spaces in this area. most of them are taken by non handicapped people that could really use the walk from farther out in the parking lot.

WOW... Obama insults the disabled AND vetoed the ban on stem cell research!
We are discussing Obama's inability to keep from putting his foot in his mouth when he doesn't have a teleprompter. This thread has nothing to do with his veto of stem cell research or Rush Limbaugh's response to MJ Fox.
We are talking about the President of the United States. If he can't speak off the cuff without putting his foot in his mouth then it says something about the man. There is a reason his "handlers" don't want him making appearances without a prompter. This is just one of many inappropriate comments to come.
More specificly, a ban on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.
There wasn't and still isn't any conclusive evidence that embryonic stem cells hold any more promise than adult stem cells. There has been federal funds available for adult stem cell research. Embryonic stem cell research was never made illegal, it just wasn't allowed to be funded with tax dollars. Private dollars could have been funding the research all along. Research in other countries could have come to the conclusions that we are being told they will eventually come to. Now, by using tax dollars to fund research, the president can alienate huge portions of the population.
We didn't see Fox before the '06 elections, talking about his belief that tax payers dollars should be used to fund embryonic stem cell research. It wasn't untill he could have a big influence on public opinion and effect the outcome of the mid term elections. He has every right to do that, just as any private citizen has the right to say that what he did appeared to be pandering.
Like Fox, Limbaugh is an entertainer. He gets called out for a lot of what he says. Even if often the media is completely wrong in quoting what he's said. Obama should be held to at least the standard that Limbaugh is held to, but he isn't. Not by the media or by the American people. No matter how much the democrat party, with the aid of their accomplices in the media, try to make the American people believe that he is, Limbaugh is not an elected representative. Why he would be held to a higher standard than the President of the United States of America is a mystery to me.
How much of the tax payers dollars have now been committed to embryonic stem cell research at a time when our economy is the worst it's been since the Great Depression? Many people believe that the current president is showing poor judgement. Though I have not seen the tar nor the feathers, other than in places like an F150 Online forum, and conservative talk radio, for many people Obama's lack of sensitivity in a public forum is just another example of his poor judgement. It's not criminal. It's just something that leads some people to have zero confidence in the guy.
Some of us would have liked to have had a choice last Novemeber, to vote for someone who was more presidential than the last guy. I guess we all tried. A majority believe that Obama is more presidential. I'd guess that they believe that he is better than the last guy. Many of us just see a guy who is different from the last guy. If anyone though that the last guy was taking us off a cliff, then there are a bunch of us who see this new guy taking us off a cliff too. Just a different cliff. I personally would like to have representatives who are afraid of heights. Who know enough to keep us away from the cliff to begin with.
Just like complaints people made about the last guy, the title of this thread, to me, exhibits the surprize at the lack of good judgement from our president.

I love how easily we've become offended as a society. It's as if we look for things to offend us. Of course, it all depends on who says the 'offending' remark. We first have to figure out if it's ok for someone to say something before we decide if we're offended.
Someone says a racial joke? Funny if their black, offensive if their white. Make a joke about a handicap? Funny if their in a wheelchair, offensive if they physically able. The best part is society isn't really offended, they're jealous in some weird fashion or they're stoking their sense of entitlement and looking for a way to get something out of it.
Good job america, lets spend all our time worrying about people making jokes while people are dieing in random wars (real or imagined) and the world economy is crumbling...

with the mentally retarted there comes a deep honesty. maybe thats something that obama can take a lesson on. if you want a frank answer just ask a mentally challenged person. if you want lying double talk ask the president.
Yes. I'm pretty sure it's the people in these forums that should be out fixing everything. Instead we are wasting time worrying about people making jokes. Who cares if it is offensive to some people. We should probably be more effecient with our time like Obama. I feel like he accomplished so much by going on the Tonight Show. I don't know if our economy would hold up without that appearance. It's a good thing he took the time to pick teams for March Madness too. Who knows what issues we might have had without his choices.

Should our president have made an insensitive remark? Absolutely not, he should know better and is supposed to be an example for the rest of us. But is it worth all the coverage spent on it? Not even close. Furthermore, I'm sure we'll all agree he wasn't truly putting down the handicapped, only making a poor attempt at humor on a show where humor is the main objective. Sadly, he's the president and we expect nothing but perfection from him and do not make allowances for poor judgment or for him to have a life outside of solving the worlds problems (hence backlash on him filling out a ncaa bracket). But he knew all that before he took the job I suppose.
