I got a rodent problem.

I'll never understand why rats think vacuum hoses and wiring harnesses are so tasty, but anyways...
Yeah. A critter got in under my hood, ate up the underhood liner and ate through some vacuum hoses. Grr, rage. Anywho, I don't have a cat and don't really want to get one, and I'm not moving any time soon, so what can I do to make my wiring harnesses and vacuum hoses less appealing to varmints?

We don't have rats here but the mice don't like Bounce dryer sheets, Irish Spring soap and Moth *****.
I would throw a few moth ***** on the ground under your truck if you park outside or hide some under the hood.

I started using putty and mounting rat poison under the hoods of all our cars. They're more attracted to that stuff than the wires. Then they have to leave the car to get a drink of water.
I haven't had a problem since.

I don't want to give a "silly" answer, but in my experience:
Moth ***** work but they get messy after a while.
My solution was to "romance" a feral cat in the neighborhood with food to the point she stuck around the house most of the time and the rat/mice/vol population rapidly disappeared.
That was five years ago and eventually, she became a "porch cat" with her own door to my smoking porch on the back of the house and then later became an apartment cat when we converted a little pool cabana into an inlaw apartment for my SIL.
She would dearly love to become a house cat, but we have Thunder, a 25 lb Rag Doll Cat as our house cat and he does not allow Junior access to the house. Thunder, by the way, patrols the garage and basement and we have no rodent problems there either.
Almost forgot, we had Junior fixed for free by the local Pound so there is no issue there.

That's a pretty darn good idea!! Put alittle cat food around, attract a stray and they will take care of the problem..Usually!!
"Romance a feral cat"
I have never laughed so hard in my life. I'm not making fun of it, it just struck my mind funny I guess.
