SilverLight

does anyone know what Microsoft SiverLight is and what it does? i looked and can't find anything.

It's Microsoft's alternative to Adobe's Flash. It's supposed to be "better" than Flash, it just doesn't have anywhere near the market penetration. It doesn't hurt to install it (I'm assuming you saw it on Windows Update) but not many sites really use it.

Netflix uses it... seems to work great... I watched the first four seasons of the Office online with it through Netflix.

i downloaded it, but didn't see it anywhere on my puter. whats up with that.

It is a browser plugin that only runs when web site call for it. It will be listed in the Browser Add-ons section of Internet Explorer as well as in the Add or Remove Programs applet in the Windows Control Panel.
