Smokes
Nope. The cured 'bacco goes else where to be processed into cigs, snuff, chew, etc. Plus, the blend of tobacco comes from a wide variety of places.
About 18 months ago I toured the JR Reynolds cig factory in Winston-Salem. They had bales of overseas tobacco as well as domestic. The only place I remember for certain Africa.

so, obozo raises the tax on cigarettes to pay for his record save the world defecit. large numbers of people quit smoking cause they cant afford it. what does that do to his projected income of taxes.
i heard on fox that accountants phones are busy with people of the over 250K looking to get their reportable income under that. one person said that they can do that with a deffered income account. they put everything over 249,999.00 in an account and draw on that after retirement.
this guy is going to take away any incentive for success.
whats next taxing MRE's consumed by the troops?

May not help as taxes as you said. However it may just help with health care. Healthier people and people that don't smoke mean less Albuterol Rx's I need to give at work and less people clogging up hospitals that did this to themselves.
I agree. I smoke. I am fine with the tax increase. If I can't afford it, I stop. As a smoker, I know my health isn't up to par with some, so I pay more for the extra burden. My choice, I am fine with it.

The other day I was coming out of the bank, some girl, 14 yrs old at most asked if I had a smoke. I said nope, stick with weed it's cheaper! Kidding, I wouldn't say that to a kid, but it's pretty much true. I'm sorry, when I started in '94, they were around $3 a pack, for 25 cigs, now $10? Blow me, what is that a 333% change roughly? Last carton I bought in '05 was $64 which was cheap, the norm was $72 and now $80?
If you are serious about quiting, try NICOGEL. Just google it and read up on it. There is a person that works for me that is using it right now. She says it is really making a difference in her cravings.
glad to see everyone's opinion on this. i was buying 2 packs aday. looks like i'm only going to buy some when i drink. 1 pack every two days since we are not allowed to smoke in the shop at work anymore. soon, i'll be buying 2 packs a week, then 0. i'm going to do this on my own. no need to spend money on something to help me quit, when i can save that money on that and smokes.
Marlboro Lights are 5.66/pack here in Maryland. Luckily I've been working at quitting for a few weeks now and i'm down to about a pack every 10 or so days. Hopefully I'll be done for good soon.
