Bride and Groom Shower....Together?

Has anyone been to one of these? I am in my friends upcoming wedding and they are having one of these. Never been to a shower, let alone a male and female one. Any gifting ideas on what to get my friend. His mom told me tools, but I just don't see this guy as that type.

Yeah, my wife and I had a "Couple's Shower" thrown by our friends. She still had a bridal shower, then we each had our bachelor/ette parties.

Our shower was just a BBQ in our friend's backyard with good food and good brew Overall it was alot of fun. My mother-in-law did a keg stand with along with all the bridesmaids.

People got us gifts from our registry, especially if they couldn't make the actual wedding.

Bride & Groom showers are just another in a long line of things that continue the "pussification" of men.....

In the good old days, showers meant, "Sweet -- I have the afternoon to do whatever I want while the wife is off with her girlfriends at a shower!" Now, the men get drug along to these lame events where they have to make awkward conversation with a room full of people they've never met before and think longingly about all the things they could be doing out in their garage.....

Keg stands with your in-laws and wedding party = pussification?

I've never been to a bridal shower that had a keg. All the ones I've been to have involved chicken-salad sandwiches where the bread was cut with a cookie-cutter into the shape of a heart......

Lame! We had 2

Then again, a bridal shower is different than a couple's shower, or should be.

Mine was a surprise. I knew nothing about it and neither did my wife. We were just going to lunch with the in-laws like we did many times and ...wham.
The parking lot was full of familiar vehicles. It was fun. We got cash and registry gifts. This was 15 years ago.

We also had a 'couples shower' which was separate from my wife's bridal shower, almost 14 years ago now.

The couples shower was an informal BBQ in a family friend's back yard. Beer drinking and good BBQ - so it was fun!

My inlaws got us a gas grill, and other guests mainly gave us things from our registry.

I agree with the pussifacation of the american man. With this and many other things woman have dreamed up, the man might well just be GAY!!. Showers are for woman period<<< (no pun intended). A real man would never allow this to happen. Even my son asked me a few years back when he was getting married about going to the shower and i just stared at him until it sank in.

Real men don't do showers.
