that expy is probably sitting in the driveway just hoping you won't get rid of it like you did all it's other driveway playmates.
dang, how many cars do you need to go through in a year??
what made you decide on a new truck (again) and is it in your possession yet??

hey nomo,
I think we might get a PT Cruiser after we get to play around with one all day sometime in Oct or Nov.

Too many! This is our 3rd 2000 model vehicle. Michele saw this truck and just had to have it. I like it too, so I agreed to trade my F150 for it. Plus, we're looking at getting a travel trailer, so we needed a little more truck. She'll never get rid of the Expedition.

Hey nomo,

I thought you had a few 00s. I had recent vehicle fit myself. I needed to get rid of my truck and old van and get one nice new van. I could not get rid of the F-150. I ended up buying a 00 E-150, 4.6, auto, AC, factory racks and bins, with only 3865 miles on it. I have already put about 600 miles on it in exactly one week. I had a Draw Tite hitch and limo tint put on it and will be driving it to Pensacola on Fri. I love the new van.

In the meantime, the F-150 is empty. I have driven it twice this week. Both times to the store. It really hauls *** unladen with tools etc. Now it is like a toy. I am gonna clear out a spot in the garage for it and use it for weekends and recreation. The E-150 is my work vehicle now. A lot less worries with rubber floors and vinyl seats.

Great truck you bought. Please update your sig in a few months when you get your next new one You'll be due for a new 01 in December or so.

While I didn't comment (none of my business), I did keep up with your quest for a new work vehicle. Sounds like you found a great deal.

This is it for new vehicles. "We" wanted the Monte Carlo, "I" wanted the F150, and "She" got the F250. Next time, she has to get rid of her Expedition!!

Nomo: I got a kick out of that part about "She got the F250"!!!! Since you said you traded your F150 in for it, I wont ask what you got in trade. (I'm sure Ford took you to the cleaners on it) But what kind of deal did you get on the F250??? And I can give you a really good lead on some used travel trailers. These are pull behinds and no slide outs and they are in Raleigh,NC. But they are being auctioned off at the highest bid. I'd bid on about 8 when one of my bids finally came in on top. I picked up a 2000 year model Thor Dutchman, 30'BH. It's got a skylite in the bathroom. Bunks for my two kids, front bedroom, jacks front and rear and all kinds of other options. Only paid $10100.

Hi Tina. My wife picked the truck... I did convince her to spend the extra $1500 for an XLT over the XL that she wanted. Unfortunately, Tulsa only has 1 Ford dealership and it is a "no-haggle" shop. Usually, they take 1500-2000 off sticker. If you don't like it, you can always drive 35+ miles to the next dealer. But, those guys also know what Tulsa charges... so they only come down a little lower. Not enough to justify the drive IMO. We paid 29.7k for a 32.2k truck. They had no '01 models.

I think we are going to buy my parents 26' 5th wheel. My dad has MS and is getting to the point where it's very difficult for him to use the trailer and my mom doesn't like "camping" anyway. We should get a good deal. He got all my F150 goodies for his truck (S-chip, tires, wheels, K&N FIPK).

Thumbs up

Nomo: Sorry to hear about your dad.
About your truck, at least you got them to come down!! I've never dealt w/any of the so call "no haggle" auto dealers. (and hope I never have to) I throughly enjoyed playing one dealer against another to get the very best price I could.
You'll love driving the truck and pulling the trailer too!! Even if you dad just lets you "borrow" the trailer, it'll be fun.

I wish I could "haggle". I've heard of people driving up to Kansas and down to Dallas and saving some $$. If it were worth my time, I'd do it to! Oklahoma City is just like Tulsa... and soon other cities will follow. Ford (the manufacturer) is coming into town and "merging" all the dealerships into a mega-dealer. Whereas most dealerships are just "franchises", these new "Auto Collections" are controlled by FMC via a holding company. It sucks, but I still seem to shop there???

Liking the truck a lot. Sure seems to turn heads a lot!

Nomo: just let your wife drive it a couple of times and if she notices all that head turning to look at her, you might not get your truck back!!!

I dunno, I know a few people that drive from here to Tulsa to buy trucks. Don't know the dealership though. I bet that SD is awesome! Congrats!

Hey nomo great choice see my signature. Me too pulling a bigger TT. FYI My Wife likes driving the F250 better than my 97 F150 SC Lariat 4X4. She says it handles better. Even though she was against me buying it in the first place. Says something don't it? Women like bigger...uh... Oh well... I should stop there. You know what I mean.

Hey Tina,
Remember you were thinking about getting a set of the telescoping power TT Mirrors? I got a set for 287.00 that included shipping. I have some info for you but can't find your email. Get in touch if you want a set for that. cphilip@clemson.edu

The Autocollection concept may be a thing of the past. It was in the local rag awhile back about this backfiring on Ford. Ford forced out the Fred Jones Group (thank GOD) and is slowly phasing out the one price, take-it-or-leave-it philosophy. There are no other plans from Ford to expand corporate owned super dealerships and there are no plans for Ford to get directly involved in owning and operating dealerships as they've done in Oklahoma City and Tulsa (there are Autocollections in San Diego, Salt Lake City, and Rochester). Incidentally, the Fred Jones group recently lost their contract with Ford for remanufacturing parts. Too bad, too sad. They ran roughshod over a lot of people for too long and it all caught up and crashed down on them like a ton of bricks. There are MANY dealerships outside of Oklahoma City who will beat the Oklahoma City Autocollection on a regular basis (Overall in Jones, Vance in Guthrie, Hamstead in Rush Springs, Hudiburg in Purcell, Brown in Cordell, etc.) Consumer Reports always advises to bargain UP from the invoice price, NEVER down from the sticker; I've found this bunch will stay fairly close to the invoice. By the way, Fords are called SUPER cabs, and chvrolets are called EXTENDED cabs.

My wife is already wanting to drive it to work at least 1/2 the time. The only thing stopping her is the V10 w/4.30 gears poor fuel mileage. Otherwise, I'd be in the "X" for my 4 mile trek to work and she'd be ridin' high in T-town.

Retread-
That's good news about the autocollection crap. I did find a "slight" loophole in their no-haggle system. That is to "haggle" over trade-in value. Around here, it's just not worth my time to go somewhere else. I even tried Claremore & Bartlesville without much success. The TAC has things totally screwed. BTW, thanks for the super vs extended cab correction. I fixed my sig.

cphilip-

A very nice truck you have.

If y'all don't have them, the power TT mirrors are sweet. The only thing that would make it better would be to have the convex mirrors and telescoping part to be power also.
