Out with the "small"...
CPhilip: thanks for remembering about the TT mirrors. I ended up having my friend who works for Ford, order them for me. As a matter of fact, I got them this week and my husband installed them in just about no time. I guess I need to post my old mirrors in the for-sale section! Have you got yours yet???
Nomo: another thing nice would be for them to fold in every time I need to get into the garage. That's why I got the reg mirrors in the first place (so I could get into the garage) but when you tow a 30'trailer you gotta have those tow mirrors!!!!

Not yet Tina, I am tracking them via UPS and they should be here about Wed. Any tips on the install?
Thanks Nomo but not as nice as yours. You will enjoy it.
Some are putting the heated ones from the Excursion on.

Anyone want to buy a boat?
Wife picket a TT today. It's a 2000 24' Skamper Lite 5th wheel with double slide out. I'm a little worried about it fitting on the truck. Dang 4x4 is 55" to the top of the bed!
The sales director was asking me about the V10's mileage (which I had no records- yet) and said they are getting 11mpg in the motorhomes. I did fill up afterwards... 9.7MPG. Not too bad considering it's the first 240 miles and mostly around town. Still hurts, though.
Anyway, this guy said there is an aftermarket company that does make TT mirrors that have "power telescoping". He couldn't remember the name, but said they were over $300. But, remember, it was a salesman and his lips were moving.

CPhilip: installation was easy. You have to take off the (inside) door panel. Husband also had to disconnect the speakers to get to the wires. The door panel has a few screws that you will find when you take off things like that reflector light. Then the whole thing just kind of lifts up and off. The mirror will line up with the old posts and you use the same hardware that's on your truck to put it all back together.
Nomo: I had typed a whole lot of stuff here about hitches but then reread your post and you're getting a 5th wheel. So DELEAT!!!

Hey Tina. I am at first only going to put them on and not try the power hook up. I do not have power mirrors right now. But since they were the same price as the manual and their is s remote possibility that the wiring harness is already there because I have power door locks I went that way. Just in case and I am told there is a good possibility of this. Course I would still have to replace the drivers arm rest with one that has the mirror switch too if it works out. So I assume at this point all I need to do is get to the three bolt studs. Two are obviously behind the rubber covers. Its the one behind that plastic trim plate I am wondering about. I think there is one there right? How to get it off If so? Any light you can shed on that would be wonderfull.
Well got em on and even without power they are sweet. Had the following answer from Louder at White Motor Company (F-D.com guy) about the possibility of hooking up the power:
Here is his message: "We had a truck outside that is a XLT without power mirrors, so I thought I would pull a door panel off and see what wiring was there and if we could go from manual to power. No Luck. There is no wiring in the door to convert from manual to electric. I was dissapointed. It would probably be a big project to convert to electric because of extra wiring harness', switch panel, wiring plugs, and switch needed.
Thanks, Louder"
So there you go. Option out. That should put that to bed right? And thanks to Louder. Great guy huh?

Aren't these mirror great! Going to the doctor yesterday and this woman in the parking garage was pointing at the truck and talking to a couple of her friends. As we got closer, we could hear her talking about the mirrors that her husband wants.
You'd think Ford would spend that extra $0.30 just to have a common wiring scheme. I found out on the Expedition that they don't wire anything not included from the factory. But, it might not be as expensive as you think. Lots of people adding the combination-code door handles to their F150s and Expeditions. They say it's pretty easy to find the harness/clips/wires necessary.
