Mr. Serotta is spot on!

"Character is who you are when nobody is watching." Why worry about if there are cameras rolling? Doe this mean you would do the wrong thing if nobody was watching? Why would that have something to do with it? Do the right thing...alert a teller of what you found...that is rightfully not yours. Let them take care of it. How would you feel if you misplaced $100? Wouldn't you hope that somebody had the integrity to do the right thing? What ever happened to feeling good about doing the right thing? You cannot put a price tag on integrity.

A long time ago, when I was doing some graduate work, my wallet was misplaced at a large state university here in Ohio. I wrote it off---I would never see the $$$ ever again---low and behold, it was mailed to me---and everything that was in the wallet was still there. Somebody, somewhere, found the wallet and returned ti to me---somebody with integrity.

Lets hope she was just embarased. most of the Tellers I know can't afford mistakes.
I've made mistakes on deposits before, I'd just call the Teller up and say, "Hey you're gonna check up off". They always thanked me, because sometimes it takes a while to find an error.

Two stories:

One late night i went to walmart, checked out with like an 8 dollar total, handed the cashier a 20. She said she had to go get change, so she took 100 bill to get change. She came back and tried to give me change for 100 minus the 8 bucks. I straightened her out, and took my change and left.

One afternoon I went through the ATM, and whoever was there last, had left their transaction open, and the ATM was prompting if I need to do another transaction. I could have said yes and withdrawn cash. I was really broke at the time too. I hit no, and drove the card around, and took it inside and dropped it off. Then went and got my own cash out of my account and went about my buisness.

If there was identification left with it, I'd definitely return it. If someone left their ATM card in the machine, well, that'd be theft... But if its just random cash, it's random cash...

If I found it, I'd throw my truck in reverse, Back off the Miata and apologize to the owner for cutting through.

I found a big *** chicks wallet (the wallet was big, not the chick) coming out of the bar one night, opened it up to see a fat wod of 20's and some girls ID. I just took it back in and gave it to the coat check girl.
