Next time you guys play Monopoly and get the "$50 bank error in your favor" card, make sure you give it back then. Karma.

If I KNOW the owner I will give it back in a heart beat. and by know I don't mean know the individual personally, I mean if I see the individual drop the money on the ground I'll pick it up and return it to the owner. If I don't know the owner or the owner is in question I will pocket the money. I seem to find a $10 or $20 about every 6 months or so. I believe in Karma and thats why I pick it up. Karma is paying me back for all the bull**** I do for others.

If I know who it belongs to, it gets returned to that person. Otherwise, it's mine now. I don't have faith in others to do the right thing.

I was at lowes a couple weeks ago. Heading to the register, I walked past the grille section and saw a phone on the ground and no one around. I picked it up, went through the contacts and called "Dad." Dad answered "Hey kiddo" to my reply, "Um, I just found this found at Lowes." I talked to him for a second, and told him which store and told him I was turning it in to Customer Service. He said thank you and we went on with our lives. The customer service lady was a bitch. I told her what I did and she snatched it out of my hand and turned around and walked away from without saying a word. I felt even better about calling the dad.

I was washing our cars one summer when my wife decided to go to the beach. I had placed my keys and wallet on the rear bumper. Her car was done and after she backed out of the driveway and took off I heard my keys hit the street. I ran into the street waving my arms but she was long gone with the wallet.
This was before cell phones was invented, well maybe they were invented but they were about the size of a shoebox.
I knew the beach was 20 miles away with Interstate plus bumpy winding roads.
So, I just headed back into the house and called credit card companies to cancel and tried to figure out what other documentation I'd lost.

Several hours later my wife comes home and hands me the wallet.
She said it was laying on the front seat when she got back from the beach.
(She never locked her car, much less rolled up the windows)
Someone had spotted the wallet on the bumper at the beach parking lot.

I couldn't believe the wallet made the whole ride, and with my wifes driving.
1974 Toyota Celica, they don't make bumpers like that anymore!

p.s.
It is impossible to un-cancel a credit card.

Raoul, this past year I was at work and had gone to fuel up the truck with a coworker. I set my wallet on the bumper after running the card, filled the tank, jumped in and took off. Yep, wallet still on bumper. Never even crossed my mind until I get to the job site another coworker walks up to the truck when I pull in and says someting smart about my wallet being on the bumper. I looked at the guy that was with me and almost **** myself. Dodge's are good for something.

I would assume it belonged to the last customer to use that drive thru. I would have noted the time and gone into the bank, asked the manager to try to identify that last custormer and return their money to them. If it was the banks, they would discover that when they tried to balance. Regardless, it was not mine.

I'm amazed by the reasons some of you would return the money. Cameras, teller error, if I know the person....... all crap! You returned it because it's the right thing to do and you'd like the same thing to happen if it was your money that was misplaced. What the hell ever happened to personal pride and integrity? Do the right thing because you know it's the right thing, not because someone might be watching you!

Oops, gotta go, customer coming in here at One Hour Martinizing. I like to be the first to check the pants pockets on the clothes they drop off.

I got my suit back from the dry cleaners with a ten dollar bill pinned to the jacket.
I was amazed by the honesty.
I went back inside and asked if the money had been found in the clothes.

The guy said, "Yeah, I looked at the suit and figured you needed the money more than I did.".
