Need some help with the IPOD Touch
Need some help with the IPOD Touch
My wife got me one of these for my birthday and I can't get the darn thing to do anything. When I turn it on all it shows is a usb cable with a arrow pointing at a icon that says ITunes. I downloaded the itunes but it couldn't finish configuration because it said a dialog box was open. That has something to do with my windows operating system I believe. This hasn't been right since I took my laptop to Comp USA for repairs.
Any thoughts?

If im not mistaken you have to first plug it into your computer for it to configure and do who knows what. But until you plug it in and get Itunes working I think you are kind of stuck.
Or go plug it into a friends computer to get it working first.

If I hold the pwr button then two options come up 1. CANCEL or 2. Slide to power off. This IPOD doesn't have the round controller on it. It's the touch screen model.

1. Install iTunes
Before you connect your iPod to your Mac or PC computer or use it, you must install the latest iTunes software.
2. Connect and Set Up your iPod
Charge your battery by connecting it to an Apple iPod Power Adapter or connect your iPod to a high-power USB port —one that's located directly on your computer—to ensure that your computer charges your iPod battery. (If your computer doesn't seem to recognize your connected iPod, wait about 30 minutes to allow the iPod battery to charge before going further.)
3. Fill your iPod and iTunes with Music
Once you finish the set up, iTunes will open. It will then either:
Automatically start filling your iPod with music from your iTunes library (if you set iTunes to automatically update your iPod)
OR
Allow you to pick and choose what music, videos (if you have a Fifth Generation iPod), audiobooks, and podcasts to add, if you opted to manually manage music on your iPod.
To manually add content, simply drag any file from your iTunes library or playlist to your iPod icon in the iTunes Source list. If you're using iTunes for the very first time, you'll need to add some music to iTunes first, such as songs from your own CDs or music already on your hard drive.

Also, it may have been disconnected from your computer before it was done synching. Try connecting it again. Before disconnecting eject it with the little arrow icon beside the iPods name in itunes.
Thanks guys for your help.
I brought it to work with me and everything went smooth. For some reason my home pc doesn't want to play with the ipod which is a bummer. I'll have to take a day off and come in just so I can familiarize myself with this thing.
Thanks again

I lamented over leaving Verizon for AT&T to get an iPhone and ended up going for an iPod Touch instead. I really like it and now that I have installed the Brandmotion in the truck I am getting a lot more use out of it. My only issue now is placing it somewhere in the truck and not having the cord hang out of the ashtray. I put it in the glovebox like the company recommended but the touch and iphone are a little too large to fit in the glove box cleanly.
One question...is your Sony 64-bit? The Ipod Touch has no 64-bit compatibility, so any Windows users with 64-bit computers cannot sync with iTunes. I was extremely angry when I learned this because I just bought a new laptop that is 64-bit. If I didn't still have my old laptop then my Touch would be about as great as a brick...
edit-Did a bit of research and I don't think sony even supports 64-bit in any of their laptops, let alone an '03, so this probably isn't your problem. If your computer is 64-bit, however, take this as a heads up!

One of the reasons they went out of business around here. I worked at a CompUsa for 5 years & I would never bring a computer there for repairs even though your problem is software related not hardware.
