anybody ever think about this

My grandfather brought this up while we were watching the race the other night. when you watch nascar races, you can always see the rubber that comes off the tires on the edges of the track, but, you NEVER see any on the side of public roads/highways. roads that have hundreds/thousands of cars driving on them wearing out rubber and you never see any, you think youd be able to see at least a little.

The tires in Nascar are extremely soft and the rubber wears off very quickly. The heat and track surface grates the rubber right off, especially in the corners.

Passenger cars, not so much.

NASCAR tires are made to shed rubber. If they didn't "shed" they would become greasy and slick with all the rubber build up.

Passenger cars do shed rubber, check out your local track. We just don't push our tires to that kind of extreme.

Remember the tire dust at Indianapolis last season? That was a joke. Never seen anything like that before.

Drive your truck in a mile and a half oval for 500 miles at 170+ miles an hour and report back to me

I was at the Indy 500 last year and it was terrible. No flow in the race because they had to pit every ten laps. Absolute worst cup race I've been to, but the track was freakin' sweet.

Indy sucks to go watch at. If you wanna go to a good track to see every second go to Dega' and Michigan. Only two I've watched a cup race at and enjoyed both. Been to Indy to watch qualifying and the IROC race and ended up watching the Jumbo screen majority of both competitions.
