I know some of ya got em and I have a few questions for you. I'm wanting kind of a middle aged man's input who has a tatoo.

Do you regret getting your tatoo?
How much pain was it?
Would you do it again?

I'm wanting to get a cross tatoo on my upper left back (basically my shoulder blade) I want it to where you can see it when i wear a sleevless shirt. But that isn't my reasoning behind thinking about getting one. I want to get one for two reasons. I want to get one to show my faith toward Jesus, and to honor a friend who passed a week ago. I just want to know if some of the middle aged group regrets getting a tatoo at their age now. I mean i'm 19 so i'm still young i just dont want to regret it 20 years later but idk that i will you know it signalfies Jesus and my friend, how could i regret it. I just cant find a good not so simple but not so gothic cross i like.

my gf wants me to get a tattoo im 21 im iffy about it.

I also want to get a cross on my left shoulder or shoulder blade.

I went on ebay and bought all of the larger cross tattoos i could find the stick on ones. and have been putting them on to see if they grow on me.

They have, im just not sure when ill get a real one, i want to get a tattoo because i want one not my GF.

if you do get it and end up not liking it you can always do the lazer treatment thingy. but i heard it hurts.

 

As you get older things start sagging and wrinkle. IMO it isn't worth it. Your attitude changes over time. My uncle had one when he was young.. a skunk on his bicep that said stinky under it. He got it removed years later because of the regret. Jesus doesn't need you to show your faith by a marker on the body he made for you. He needs you to show it with your actions towards others. That is much more powerful. No insult to you.. but your not done growing up at 19. Wait a few years. Life is short.. time will fly by and you can make a decision then.

 

In my 50's now. I never had one, and happy about it, but plenty of my friends regret some of their tattoo's. They are getting rid of some of them by
removal or cover up tattoo's.

 

im still young, 21. ive got 2 so far and will have more as time goes by. every tattoo ive gotten symbolizes something and each has been thought over for a long time.

if you really want one, make sure you get something that truly has meaning and try to make it unique.

 

see i'm not so sure i want one or not. I do right now but 20 years down the road..am i still going to say it was a good idea getting one. See mine would symbol something. Getting a skunk on your arm? His nickname may have been stinky but you grow out of nicknames or favorite teams or whatever. Thats why i kind of want one that you can hide by wearing a regular shirt but one that can also be shown off by wearing a cut off. I think I'll give it till this summer and if i still want one by then, then i'll look closer into it.

 

I'm 28 and I've got 5 pieces in total. Both forearms are covered from elbow to wrist, both biceps, and my right calf.

First, I do not regret them even the tiniest little bit. I love having them, they are a part of me, and I wouldn't change them for the world. I do have a professional job that at times I am required to wear a long sleeve shirt to cover them, but with long pants and a long sleeve shirt, you can't see any of them.

As far as pain, everyone has a different threshold so no one can really answer that question. If you are tattooed in any areas that have bones under them like on your back or ribs or anything will be especially painful. Theres a reason women get them on their ankles in that fleshy spot. No bones and very little pain.

Lastly, we all have things we regret and wish we hadn't done. If I could do it all over again I would like to do things in a little different order or make choices with different artists to do the work, but overall I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Like i said, they are very much a part of me and I don't know what i'd do without them. They don't define me and dont make me who I am but they are definitely a part of me and always will be.

A smart thing I would do and that has already been suggested, is go get the airbrushed ones or stickie ones as funny as that might sound. See the reactions you get, see how you have to act or dress different, and see if you could get used to it. Be very careful and choose your artist carefully and look at many many examples of their work. Don't just go find the cheapest artist and do it that way.

Mine was my own design that took me two weeks to design and has sentimental meaning to me. I don't reccomend anyone getting one just to get one...Always consider that it's there for life!

 

Most of my friends got tattoed back when they were 18-20 years old. Now, in our mid thirties, every single one of them regrets the tat.

Just an FYI.

 

I only have one as of right now, im 24. I do not regret it at all because like others mine actually means something to me. I did not get one because it was cool or its what everyone else is doing. I wanted it for me and its purpose is for me. The pain was minimal to non existant. Though it depends on where you get it, the arms (shoulders) is pretty easy, the underside of the arm can hurt. But like someone else said, some people cant take more pain than others.
As far as getting more, I already have 3 in my head that I will be doing as money allows.

 

ive had mine for about a year and i dont regret it yet lol. i really want to get at least one more
