Mr. Daylighter part 2: The Night Life
Here are some pics of the lights taken at night, as requested by some of the members on here. Keep in mind that's very hard to get good pics of this sort of thing, but the pics did come put ok. As you can tell by the pics, the lights are pretty powerful, and I REALLY believe, especially after seein the power and distance of the lights, that there is NO OTHER off-road light in the world better than a KC. Enjoy the pics:
This pic is my favorite, it really shows you how bright they are, and it didn't really blind the camera that much:
Here is a pic taken off to the side, pretty cool:
This pic was taken at about 200 yards, and all you can see is one giant beam:
I walked a long way off for this one, all you can see is 2 giant ones.

Mudder
WOW! Thats alot of candlepower. A good weapon against those oncoming vehicles that refuse to turn off their high-beams. Plan on getting some 165watt heat sealed beam Daylighters for mine.
Have any pics from the bed facing forwards to show the range?

I didn't have a lot of room to work with, so I will go down to my farm next week and take a good pic in a field. I lit up that house on the hill, but you can't really tell that in the pic, guess I shouldn't have zoomed in so much.
Mudder,
Great lights... Love that first pic... Got an idea how you can show us the range. When you set up to shoot over the lights keep your zoom pretty wide and try to get the very front of your truck in the pic as a reference. If that dont work park a vehicle along the edge of the beam facing towards you about half way down it and then park another one crossways in front of you at just about its (the beams) maximum range. If we can see what kinda vehicles they are it should give us a good idea of the size of the beam...

Mudder,
Great lights. Bring them up to Silver lake in May and light up the night. What have you done to the electrical system to keep up with these lights?

Be careful with all of those lights...you might have Fox Mulder and the X-Files after you! (UFO - Unidentified Ford Object)

How far away is that house? Hard to tell from the pic.
Try a picture from inside the cab too.
Try both wide angles and zoom when shooting for distance. Trouble with zoom is, you don't see the foreground to help judge distance. Trouble with wide is most metering systems will cut down on exposure because so much foreground light is in the image. In this case, the area beyond the immediate halo of light will be underexposed.
For shots like this, it's hard to beat an old SLR where it's easy to bracket shots and adjust f-stops and shutter speeds for different effects.

JMC, I have two different relays, so that helps a lot. I also have the lights wired to two different switches, that way I can run the lights on my roll bar and the ones on my grille at different times.
Dennis, I will get some better pics taken this weekend at the rally.
mtknee, I can't zoom in the pics anymore, which sucks, but I'll get some better ones taken.
