wheres the stimulus $ going
wheres the stimulus $ going
this web site has a real good breakdown of where the money goes. you can search by state. i bet not many of us will see any cash in our home towns.

Fascinating to say the least.
Way too much to read just now but a quick look at my area in GA suggests I need a new Congressman/Senator. In the town where my store is located and in the town where I live, we get zip/zero/nada in spite of the same needs surrounding towns are getting money for.
As well, the devil is in the details here. One city gives 25 jobs for purchasing patrol cars, other cities give 0 jobs for the same purchase.
County employees.......several staff positions that to me are not high level jobs seem to pay $75K plus per year. Community Outreach Coordinator, for example. When we are furloughing firemen and policemen at around $40K per year, do we really need these types of positions?? I have not gone through all of the GA earmarks, but so far did not see money for additional police or firement, could have missed it thought.
Right now, I have to go with Wife and SIL to buy things for them for Valentine's Day.
My contribution to the Stimulus Program.

our country is being stolen from us while we watch.
they are going to make sure our kids never have it as good we do. and others will have it much better.
redistribute the wealth. you work for it and others will enjoy it.

Gotta love the $17.5 Billion for an Energy Efficient Industrial Zone in Cidra, Puerto Rico. According to some of the comments, that particular bit of stimulus will cost over $10 million per job created.
Oh, and almost $100,000 for doorbells in Missouri. And $600,000,000 for a Heritage Trail in Natchez, Mississippi. For $600 million, that better be a damn nice trail.
Oh, and can't forget $100 million to reconstruct Doyle Drive in Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco. $100 million seems like an awful lot of money for one small road project, but apparentlhy that's just for final design and right of way acquistiton. The total for that road project is apparently over $1 billion.

All that money and there isn't anything for my city.
This is really a victory for Obama. It's a stinging defete for all of us. It might seem like it's helping us at first but the reallization of the fact that this money doesn't exsist and that our government is spending money that it doesn't have will soon sink in.
I think that the likelyhood of success is pretty slim. They are already telling us that they are going to have to spend more money that they don't have.
For thoes that voted for "change", change is coming. That thirteen extra dollars you get in your pay check each week will be countered by tax increases up the wahzoo. Look our for that gas tax increase, property tax increase, candy tax, booze tax increase, ect., as well as all of the "fee" increases like one that I'm familiar, plumbing permit fee increases.
I've been opposed to any stimulus plan, but they've just passed one that is going to do number to our way of life. We'll have to submit to government now.
Here's another thing that we get in this stimulus:
World Net Daily-Federal obligations exceed world GDP
Does $65.5 trillion terrify anyone yet?

I saw that later, after falling into the thread title.
I also realized the things specified in the linked table were way too small to equal the total of the stimulus.
I guess no one has has had time to read the stimulus package bill, much less make a website. My guess is that that when they do, it will be a MUCH longer table and there will be even more to object to.
But maybe my town will get some, so then it will be OK.

I can see why Caterpillar would start production again...
This does help explain how it's 2,000 pages as well...

In the future we will have serious buyers remorse over these spending bills. Great Depression II, brought to you by the clowns in Washington D.C.
Get out of debt while you have time.
maybe it is to generalized but on the whole any of the cities that are on the list most of us would not want to live in.
real shame is the ones of us that work are going to subsidize what they have already destroyed.

Yes, Dummy Dugan here too. I read it too fast this morning and just got back from my Valentine's Day treat for the girls and re-read it before getting on here.
The devil is really in the details and if I didn't even read the opening paragraphs of the website before jumping to conclusions, shame on me.
I also noted that so many of the numbers just did not make sense and a little more looking around seems to indicate a lot of the $ numbers were probably part of an "omnibus" or all inclusive request for a large number of projects and they just repeated the number for each project.
Having said all of these "nice" things, it still seems to me that the effort will be made to include as many of this laundry list of pork/earmarks as possible when the money is actually dividied up.

Was at an architect's dinner meeting this past week - buzzword of the year is going to be "shovel-ready"....
Luckily for me, my landscaping project in the backyard is "shovel-ready".... where do I apply?
