Charter Communications

Flame on! Man someone please tell me how Charter has survived this long? This company has got to be the worst POS bis in America. Last year I signed up for a promotion which came in the mail for tele, net, and tv for 100 bucks. The dude who came out tried to jig rig my setup using old satelite wires in the house. He ended up fryin a nearby circuit to my house, which shut down my tv and net for 3 months. At the end of the three months I had 1g worth of charges on my account from 4 techs out here. I had to get my lawyers too look at the case, then take my computer to best buy and get them to prove my network card was good on pc. When we filed the complaint a very "top" dog from there responded it was not charter communications policy to react in any way towards inconvenience's to the customer. So I had to get my lawyers to pursue personal damage to get the bill waved and dropped them for good. Then my wife tells me she has a internet class her last semester and we needed the net back. So reluctanly I got back with charter for internet only, the last 3 times I have paid online plenty of money was there for the bill but the don't do the transaction, when i call in its " an error on there side of things" but still yet they send me threating letters about cancelling my service blah blah. Boys I hate to tell ya but I hope Charter Communications falls victim to the Financial crisis and goes under. This is a flame so flame on and if they cant get there Shi% together well, Ive truely injoyed my stay here its been fun!

Done

Charter has been criticized for poor customer support and frequent billing consistency issues, causing the Better Business Bureau to post a warning to consumers about the company:

The Better Business Bureau has received numerous complaints regarding this cable, digital TV, and high speed internet access provider. Complainants primarily allege that the firm had improper billing practices, referred customer bills to collection agencies in error, provided poor customer service, used misleading advertising, provided defective internet or cable performance, used improper sales tactics or misrepresented the actual costs of installation and service, failed to properly install or maintain service, damaged customers' property, and failed to honor service appointments.

i have an open BBB complaint filed with the ST. Louis headquarters... they want the BBB file closed and I refuse to close it until i'm satisfied-- part of my original agreement with charter when I filed the paperwork. They are quite cooperative now- will see how bad they screw up my my bill next week.

My brother has Charter. Same problems here in GA. Their cable used to go out whenever we had storms, like in the '80s. LOL. Their customer service has made Direct TV very rich !

We've got charter digital cable and internet. Not had any issues yet, but our main issue is that there is only 1 other company that provides both tv and internet in this area and they are way more expensive. Can't for the life of me figure out why Bellsouth(At&T) or Comcast can't offer us services. I also hate that I see all those "On Demand" ads on charter and it's not available in our area.

Charter is the worst in my opinion. I was without service for four months after Hurricane Katrina. I had to pay for two of those months of no service with them. After being without service for two weeks after Hurricane Gustav I finally said screw em and called up Dish Network.
They are streched very thin on service techs and have to contract out most of there service work.
*** has wanted to buy the area in which I live from Charter but Charter will not sell.

if you have problems with charter, you need to skip your local office and call escalation...they're the only ones with any sense of customer service and brainpower necessary to complete anything remotely satisfactory... got a number lemme find it
314-965-0555 (this is a public number) ignore the chatter that if you are a residential customer to hang up- get thru the system to the 'unresolved issue' or ask the opp. for an escalation member...

I'm not a fan of Charter but I'll take their only cable service anyday over having to go to Dish or Direct TV. Don't know about Charter in other areas but a big selling point for me was no contract so if they screw me too many times I can just walk away.

The thing that pisses me off more than anything else is the crap they send in the mail. I only get TV and internet through them. I get a mailer at least twice a week marked "urgent, open immediately" and all it is is them trying to get me to hook up a phone line. One would think that in this day and age landlines are becoming fewer and fewer. I've got two cell phones, why the hell would I want to pay more for a another phone at my house? It's petty and not nearly as important as the problems/issues described by others above but it pisses me off so damn much.
