Man that sucks!! All I listen to is Sirius. Octane is on 99% of the time I'm in my truck. I hope they don't shut down.

To be fair, it is much more than radio - there's the Weather Channel, the various news channels, talk and music of every genre. I travel a great deal and nothing bugged me more than to be listening to a NFL game or a NASCAR race and get down to near the end then drive out of range of the station. By the time I could tune in another station carrying that program - well, it rarely happened. With satellite I can follow a game or even the same music station all across the country for hundreds of miles with no interruption or signal loss.

And it's like cable TV - there a lot on it I just don't care for - Howard, Martha Stewart, rap music etc. But there is huge variety not available on standard am/fm bands.

That said I agree with others, since the merger the overall quality of programming has gone straight down hill. They totally wasted the 60s channel with the merger. I began with XM years ago but moved to Sirius when NASCAR moved. I wish the merger had never happened.

I'm relying more and more on my iPod for music, but I still want satellite for news and sports that I can't get elsewhere.

I have both - XM and Sirius. Personally I think XM is better but in reality they are pretty much the same thing with rebadged stations. XM has always had better equipment - the Pioneer Inno, 'nuff said.

Anywho, sat radio isn't going away anytime soon so no worries. I think the money is totally worth it and will pay them happily so long as it says >$15/mo for everything.

I was happy with XM until I gave one away as a Christmas present two years ago and the person didn't pick up the payments after the first billing cycle like they said they would and XM charged me for a years worth of programming that I couldn't listen to or couldn't cancel. I say EFF em.

Ok 13 bucks a month. LOL. My point being is that most people do not spend the time in their vehicles to justify 13 bucks a month. Personally, 5.95/month would be fair to have radio with no commercials. I think they would become profitable at that amount. I just turn the station when commercials come on the FM dial.

My Inno goes with me from car to home to anywhere... well, it used to. Now the F150 has built-in Sirius and the Inno stays in the house and goes on trips. The point is you can get a single unit to use anywhere.... and having all that music available in your home for weekends, parties, cookouts - well suddenly that $13 is a steal!

Sirius also has a $6.99/mo plan - you choose 50 of the stations and that's it. Some premium stations are extra, but that's still one heck of a deal for the cheapskates!

The problem for me was that to be commercial free radio, they sure do waste a lot of time advertising their other channels and shows and the disc jockeys have gotten much more long winded than when it first started. I also only used mine about 30 hours a month, so I was paying for a lot of no listening. So when it came due on January 19th, 2009 I purposely did not renew my yearly subscription. I noticed on the 21st, my checking account had been charged for a yearly fee from Sirius. I have never had auto payment or anything checked on their web page to allow them to just go get the money. They obviously saved the info from my debit card from previous years and just decided to go get them some money. Called them up, Pakistan I believe, and asked for my money back. 3 days, funds will be back in my account. Feb. 02, still no reinbursement, call back up, either Pakistan or India this time, couldn't understand enough to tell. Feb. 11, still no funds....
Buyer beware! Oh and the sirius was turned off as soon as I got off the phone with them the first time to confirm cancellation of service. Went to truck, started it and radio played about 5 seconds then went to a message to call them. Fawkers!

No surprise. Siruis has been in trouble since 2003.

I just bought a new 09 F-150 with the six months free Siruis. I commute an hour each way to work every day and have not listened to the regular radio stations, played CD's or MP3's. I have only listened to Siruis and I am hooked. I was going to continue it once the free subscription expired but it looks like I may not get the full free six months now. Sorta makes you feel like getting a Circuit City gift card for Christmas.

Have Sirius in the F150, a portable with a "boombox", and on the boat.... Going to really miss it if it goes away. Have an hour driver each way, plus I am in the truck a lot for work.

I do think that since the XM Merger, Sirius has gone down hill.... But that is why I went with Sirius rather than XM in the beginning.

Yeah, bankruptcy doesn't means ceasing operations. If it did well - look at the airlines. we'd all be driving to grandma's house. (I do anyway cause airline service in the country and the security c**p sucks, but that's another thread!). And that time in the truck is why I'll keep satellite radio.

Hahaha Welcome back bro.... Some of these folks here just think bankrupcy will end satt radio but it is the next big thing. it is just some growing pains after all is said and done it will prosper. They just need to reorganize and trim some fat and we shall see progress.

I like Howard sometimes so i listen and habs is right some of them interviews with the **** chicks and the sibion rides are a real nice thing.

I hope it doesn't go away. I love mine, it really nice to be able to drive out into the middle of no where and still have decent music or driving across the country and not have to worry about finding a different radio stations. And well all the radio stations around here pretty much suck. Alls I know a paid alot more than 10 bucks a month buying music for in my truck before I got sirius....
