Yeah, I mean manual, your 4.2 went what, 30 or 40K before it needed a rebuild right?

Well... it wasn't the engine's fault. It was a bad gasket from the plant. They were still amazed it ran... it's one heck of a tough engine to bust.

Plus, I haven't had a problem with pinging and detonation after they fixed it. I think the root of my initial problem was with that bad gasket, because after they replaced it, all has been well.

But I've been driving it a little harder too...

Well, his lasted that long because of a bad gasket too.

Trust me, that 7.3l would bust too if it had poorly made $10 gaskets on it.

Once fixed, these engines will last 350k easy before a rebuild.

There's quite a few people rolling 200k to 300k on 1999-2001's around here with no problems.

IIRC, there was a guy on another forum that put something like 500k on his and it's still running fine.
