Bill Murray,
Thanks. It may be a dealer's ORP. Not necessarily a fraud. I probably should add the fog lights. I feel better.

I also believe the '97 ORP doesn't even allow for 2-tone paint. Solid colors only.

My 98 Lariat has the ORP, no 4X4 sticker tho. Also, I've read here that I should have 3.73 gear, which I don't, and with Lariat package I should have CD Player which I don't. Perhaps this is because this truck was built in Canada?

The 4x4 sticker does not come on the Lariat, unless you have one of the 50th anniversary limited edition Lariats.

MOVEOVER,
Basically, anybody can buy the ORP stickers for the side of the truck and call it an ORP. However, it is NOT a true ORP unless it has "Fuel Tank, Transfer Case & Frame Front Crossmember Skid Plates, 17" wheels, fog lights, and HD shocks." In 1997, the ORP did not come with a 3.73 axle gear ratio. The ORP is also NOT available with a long bed. Sorry to burst the bubble, but the dealer was incorrect.

I just realized:

Isn't "trusted dealer" an oxymoron?

MOVEOVER -- All the recalls would be performed at no charge. I don't know what the first three relate to but the last two are for new lug nuts and rear spring clip replacement. I would definately get the new lug nuts -- have heard several reports of loose or missing lug nuts.

Cool

Hi, just thought I'd bring this back to life. It seems there are others with similar concerns.

Hey guy I know this is going to be completely off topic, but the recall topic has been brought up, and I do not want to start a new topic over it. Anyways here goes...

I have a 66 Chevy 1/2 ton. Its gonna be my project truck, the works for speed and looks. Hopefully it'll make my Lightning look like the 4.2L F150. Just out of curiousity I looked on the federal website for recall notcies on it, and sure enough there are two out. Would you recommend I take it to the nearest Chevy dealer? I think they will laugh me out of town! But then again its the law they fix it right? I am 22 so there's no way I am the original owner. Thanks in advance.

Yeah Mudder, hate the decal poseurs too. It reminds me of all the guys that used to buy 6 banger Mustangs back in the early 90's and put on 5.0 decals on the sides. Even tho they didn't have the exhaust to match. Another decal that ticks me off is Toyota's on the Tundra. I saw a couple here and the decal is a complete knock off of the original ORP sticker with the "Stomper" type face. (remember Stompers? lol)

Mr Scott, just had to say; just because someone has a "fake" it doesn't mean they're a "poseur". I don't recall Mudder saying that. I don't even like the stickers anyway, but they have been on long enough to start cracking, and I don't think the paint would look right if I pulled them off. What do you think?

Then again, maybe It's worth the risk now I know someone out there hates me for having them
