I do a lot of walking and running in my job, and the Timberland Pros are lighter and more comfortable on my feet. For what I put them through, they last better than a pair of Red Wings. For construction, unless I was working inside, I'd probably stick with the Red Wings.

I'm telling ya, Wellco, they are super comfortable and I have used a pair for work for going on 6 years now and they still have tread. And by "work", I mean "anytime I leave my couch dressed in anything less than formal attire", and that is including running around the mountains and in snow and whatever, these boots deliver. Really the only pair of footwear that I have ever had an opinion of high enough to brag on it, but these boots are freakin' awesome.

Double H all the way. I have had two pair and I'm about to buy another. I don't know if they make a steel-toe or not but they are great boots.

i've had a couple pair of timberlands and they always hurt my feet plus they weren't waterproof at all.

my dad had a pair with a carbon fiber toe though and he said they were the best boots he'd ever wore.

dr. martens are good too, very comfortable boot and mine were pretty good at keeping my feet dry..i only got wet when my foot was completely submerged

alot of people i know swear by redwings, my brother loves em...really good boot

you guys arent really making this much easier. there must be about 15 different suggestions out there! as for the Wellco, are they waterproof? waterproof is a must considering i will be in and out of wet trenches and muddy soil. they look really nice and i am sure they are well built if they are used in the millitary

lol, ok look at it this way, oil's will help water proof leather, goretex liners will also do the job. find something rugged, and tall enough for the muck you play in.

lets just say, i like my danners so much, its all i have excluding my sandals for summer fun.

Danner is ALWAYS the way to go.

Yes they are expensive, but you get what you pay for. Nuff said

They are Waterproof, have a steel toe and Vibram sole. If you want insulation, they have several gram weights of thinsulate. Danners are truly the best boots around.

The Red Wing Steel Toe Pull On #2231. I have wore them for years in industrial construction and the oilfield. As for waterproofing apply mink oil to your boots. You may not like the price of about $150. But they last and are comfortable.

I have had Timberlands and, to be perfectly honest, I didn't like them at all. They were bulky, uncomfortable, and fell way short of what I was used to in a Wolverine boot.

I like Red Wings but, they tend to be too narrow for my feet. Wolverines are just about the only route that I'll go as they feel great, are light weight (relatively), and are VERY durable.

Between Timberland Pro's and Red Wings -- the choice would be VERY simple to me. Go Red Wings.

Red Wings comes in any width you want. I can't buy boots at regular stores because they are always too narrow, at Red Wing they can always order me the width I need.

I spend all day walking through all kinds of conditions from wet grass to mud to oil contaminated soil and love my Red Wings, I have the lace up ones with Gore-tex liners.

Honestly, you'd probably be just as well off to get a pair of Walmart specials... Brahma's maybe... And throw them away every 6 months or so. Much cheaper.
