I'm not sure if this is the same builder or not, but I saw one on a bike show last year that had white rims on it. There was some type of plastic middle section that was clear though. It was an interesting idea.

I saw one similar to that a couple years ago on one of the motorcycle shows on Discovery.

The idea and prototypes have been around a while. The wheel rotates and is driven thru gears in the rim.
Looks good but I think they haven't perfected weight issues inherent in the design yet.

Can somebody explain how you create a hub less bike?
