Ya, they still make them, Cobra for one. They aren't as popular as in the 70's but some people still use them. I drive big truck and once in a while use it, just to see where cops are and if the scales are open, plus accident info.

I've got one of the nicer Cobra models. I was going to put it in this truck, never got around to it.

There's been a couple on sale here in the classifieds and check the thread on where to mount CBs and Maglites.

I have a cobra as well...its installed in my dash..i use it when traveling between school and hom eon the interstate....truckers get funny...also i use it to alert truckers about random stuff..like when one had a blow out with an butt load of sparks shooting everywhere and he didnt know...might have saved a trailer fire...i also like it for the weather channels

you can get them anywhere really...like walmart (eww) and like farm supply stores...internet...truck stops...electronics places...etc

See, I was wanting one, till I got listening to the one in the big rig. All you hear mostly is a bunch of truckers bitchin like high school girls, that or the language of....cough.... new Canadians (punjab). Once in a while you hear something worthwhile.

I do like the Cobra's that have a green lit up faceplate at night. I just can't get use to talkin the way they do with all the "herd dat" and "10-4 on the bear's 20".

I have two Cobra's that I love. I have a Cobra 29 LTD that was tweaked and peaked by a reputable CB shop that is going to go in my truck this spring and I also have a stock Cobra 148GTL that I need to have some work done to so its on the same level as the 29 LTD.

ive had one in the f150 for years now and hardly ever touch it, though it is cool when i need it for the interstate as many truckers still use em, and i also live in a small southern mountain town like dukes of hazzard where some people still use em like phones.... seriously..... sometimes when youre driving through town you can turn it on and hear voices like "are you at THE walmartses ma?, get jr some cigarrettes while youre there, he says he give ye 3 packs on the first", and sometimes i but in with a "tell jr to get his own damn cigs", then hillarity ensues

I just picked one up from the classifieds. Cobra 29LTD. Its purdy. Now all I gotta do is figure out how to install the darn thing. Also, how to access the hole in the cab to run the cord for the antenna.

Got it for talking to buddies that have them. And when I'm doing some interstate driving. Nice to know where the smokeys are at, and I also tend to fall asleep on road trips, so this will keep me awake.

I've got a Radioshack CB. I use it occasionally when talking to people while doing work or out in fields. However my primary mode of communication via radio link is either my cell phone or my HAM radio.

If you want 21st century in a CB... check this one out:

Cobra 29 LTD Bluetooth from Radio Shack
