Post Exterior Color Options Which is best?

Ok, I know that is a very open ended question. I know everyone thinks their paint color is the best and the fastest. I am wondering a few specific things so I can decide on a color & order my truck.

1) I think I have pretty much decided to go with deep wedgewood blue w/ silver two tone & dark graphite interior. (that is if it is the same paint that they use on the f350 & excursion. I couldn't find this paint on an F150 around here.)

2) Does the wedgewood blue & other dark colors (toredor red) show dirt as much as the black does? The trucks I saw with wedgewood blue paint looked almost black but had a slight blue tint.

3) Has anyone regreted the color that they got? Either it doesn't look good dirty or when the sun hits it just right, etc.

I ask this cause this is my first car. Only cars I have really spent time in were moms cars which were silver & white. I originally wanted to get a black truck but then found out that black shows dirt & water spots more. I like almost all of the colors mainly (harvest gold, wedgewood blue, black, silver, toredor red) and would like to get one decided so I can order this thing.

Any suggestions comments would be appreciated.

Well as you said, that is a very open-ended question. That's like asking Coke or Pepsi. Putting my personal choice behind, here are some things to think about.

I think the darker colors are harder to keep clean. Plus they will get hotter. If you live where it gets really hot in the summer, I would recommend a light color. I don't know if it's true anymore, but the darker colors used to fade more quickly in time. Paints from the 80s, the dark colors faded faster than the lights, but those problems could be in the past. You also have to decide how unique you want to be. Most trucks on the road are white, so if you go with white you won't really stand out.

I too had a dilemma when it came to picking a color. At first I wanted blue, but they dropped the 98 blue and introduced deep wedgewood blue for 99s. But that color was too dark for summers in California. So I next wanted silver. However, I soon found out silver was not an option for Lariats. I then decided on amazon green, and love it. From the start white was out, cause everyone has white. Also, the red colors were out cause my previous vehicle was red and I needed a change. The only thing I have noticed is the green shows dirt well, but only when your close. From a far you cannot tell. I would imagine the gold color hides dirt the best.

Mine is solid white, I only have to wash it a few times a year (when Florida has normal rain amounts, that is), it stays cooler in the summer as Freezer mentioned, it also hides scrathces well. I like the white but it does not stand out. Next time I will get silver or a white with silver or blue two tone. I have had a lot of problems with the following colors.
Teal (fading)
Bright Blue (early nineties Ranger, scratches, almost impossible to sell)
Dark Grey (scratches and more scratches, shows every bit of dirt)
Gold (fading)

I think white is a very maintainence-free color. I am pretty sure the colors for the HD's and Excursions are the same colors.

quzax,

I almost have the color combination that you are thinking of. I have a solid deep wedgewood blue truck with the dark graphite interior. Definately go with the dark graphite interior, I love mine. A unique aspect of this color is that it looks a different color in different light, which can be cool.

Condition Color

Bright Sunlight = Almost purple
Overcast day = Dark blue
Late evening = Dark gray/black
Night = Black

The truck shows dirt very easily, but when clean it looks like a mirror. Any scratches or dents can be seen very easily because the primer is white under the paint.

Even with the constant washing, I really love this color, and it is unique.

Oh yeah, it shows finger prints very easy too.

Hey quzax,
I have the Amazon Green/Clearcoat Metallic....it's a great color for me!
Most of your darker colors are going to show dirt, swirl marks and retain more heat, because of there dark background (Black, Deep Wedgewood Blue, Chestnut/Clearcoat Metallic, Amazon Green/Clearcoat Metallic and Island Blue Clearcoat Metallic).
Medium colors (Toreador Red/Clearcoat Metallic, and Red ). In my opinion, they shouldn't retain alot of heat, but still show swirl marks.... not as much as the darker colors though.
Your lighter colors (White, Silver and Harvest Gold) are going to show the least amount of dirt, because of a lighter background. Also they reflect the sun more, so you will have less heat.
All the colors to me are nice, but since you live in Utah, you may want to go with a lighter color (Harvest Gold) seems to be of interest to you also. I've seen the Deep Wedgewood Blue on the F-150 (nice color), but it may retain too much heat for you.... especially in the summer.
Good luck on your purchase.... I'm sure you'll pick the color that best suits you.

Cool

"best and the fastest"

Black or Black with silver 2-tone.

It can be a pain to keep clean..but when it is clean..it is, in my opinon, the best looking on the road.

fastest...black.

Lariat Ryder's last post is right on the money!

Freezer,

Is this the color blue you wanted originally?

I am glad they waited to get rid of this color for the dark blue until I got mine. I like the Deep Wedgewood Blue but it is too dark for me here in Florida.
