Last Thursday, the Vermont House of Representatives passed a bill that would recognize same-sex "civil unions" in the state. The measure would allow gay couples to receive all the legal benefits of married couples, but preserves the term "marriage" solely for unions between a man and a woman.
Should this bill be signed into law? Vote.com is now holding an online referendum asking YOU that very question. All votes will be sent to Vermont Governor Howard Dean.

But, 99.7% of us aren't residents of Vermont. If we overwhelmingly oppose this and Vermont passes it anyway, won't that eventually lead them to secede from the Union? This time the South will kick butt. There is no way Vermont could win with an Army like that unless they parachuted behind our lines and attacked our troops from the 'rear'! The only reminder you'll have this debacle 140 years from now is a Pink flag flying over the Vermont Statehouse.
Who cares? It doesn't affect anyones lives except those getting married. I thought this country was all about freedom and letting people live their lives the way they want. It doesn't affect me so I don't care what they do. I bet after a few years of the legal civil union and a few expensive palimony cases and they'll probably be anxious to get rid of it. Raoul sounds pretty excited about it though.
Well all I can say is we need to get out our baseball bats and 2x4's and beat the hell out of all the **** and anyone who wants such a bill to pass because if it passes the **** will try and get the other 49 states to pass such laws and that goes against the Christain vaules this country was founded on.

Vermont is considering giving legal recognition to those who engage in the act that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for, the behavior that is condemned every time, without exception, that it is mentioned in the Bible? No thanks...
I have to agree with hmustang, if they pass it into law we need to beat them out of the union (and burn their pink flag) (quickly followed by burning them) Personally I belive that **** shouldn't be able to adopt, that would solve that problem. And as for the north vs. south thing, it would be north and south against vermont. This sums it up for me.

christianity may be a dominate religion in the US but there is not a law that says we all have to be christian or follow any religion at all. the majority of christians do not follow the bible exactly to what it says - you may be in the majority. but all you are doing right now is encouraging my opinion that all christians do is point fingers, react violently to what they oppose, and then act all innocent about it 'b/c jesus loves them.' - but i know there are exceptions out there.
i fear people like you. threaten the lives of those who don't conform to your ideas.
why should you care if someone is gay or not? afraid they'll ruin society and corrupt children? they only way children are corrupted is b/c they have half-assed parents. and society has always been 'screwed up'.
i remember what this country was built on: discrimination (religion & race), slavery, murder (alot of indians died b/c they wouldn't convert to christianity).
you can be christian if you want, be strict or be lenient, i don't care. but don't push it on people like its the only way. and its not necessarily the right way either, sit through some college history classes (especially about europe) and you'll learn that religion has been the cause of a few massacres.
like i said before - believe in what you want and i'll believe in what i want, but don't ever threaten peoples lives. it makes you a very ugly person.
and personally, i don't care where i go when i die, as long as i'm far away from people like you.

Hmustang - This country was not founded by christians. The founding fathers were diests. The Treaty of Tripoli (american LAW) states that, "America is in no sense founded on the christian religion." I'll give you links if you don't believe me. This country was founded on the values of liberty not theocracy and I find your hate very disturbing.
