Eagle Scouts
Congrats to all you Eagle Scouts. I almost made Eagle, I had all the merit badges and had the Eagle Scout project planned. Then about a month before the project my troop folded because we lost to many people and I joined another troop. With working and the short period of time with the new troop I never ended up finishing a new Eagle project. With hind sight being 20/20 I wish I had put more effort in and became an Eagle Scout. But being in scouting for 5+ years gave me a lot of knowledge and experiences.
I made Eagle in the spring of 2003. I was 16 and dropped out of Scouts shortly there after.
I still love camping and especially backpacking. The skills acquired along the way still make my recreation safe and enjoyable today.

Many many good memories from Philmont, just hope i can go back sometime in the future
Earned my Eagle in July of 1991. I got my stuff signed off 2 days before my 18th. I stayed in the troop as an assistant scoutmaster right up until i moved to Knoxville in November. I was in the troop 23 years. Still keep in touch with them, and am looking for a troop. My scoutmaster was also my neighbor, he stepped down 3 years ago to committe chair. He took us backpacking, camping, white water rafting, anything we could think of. He backpacked 65 miles on the Applachian Trail in the Smokies when he was 77 years old. He is 82 now and still going strong. Scouting is a great program, still have a ton of friends i made over the years.. and learned a ton of skills i use when i go camping to this day.
I quit before I got there. Think I was a life scout when I left. It's one of the few things in life I regret. I would have loved to get it. I think it's really quite an honor. I just couldn't take any more from some of the leadership of the troop through. I was getting too fed up with the way things were run. Oh well. Congratulations to all of you who stuck it out though. I really miss the scouts. I hope I have a son one day so I can do all the fun stuff with him.

I made Eagle, almost 40 merit badges, Brotherhood in O.A. and became Assistant Scoutmaster. Once I went away to college I kinda lost touch and haven't been back since. Sometimes I kinda miss it although things really started to change right before I left.
I'm not afraid/ashamed to tell anyone. Heck, the few classmates "back in the day" that were the ones to put down scouting are the ones that later in life confessed that they wish they would have stuck with it. Glad to see others on here

Like Ayresusn my troop folded when I was a Life Scout. The nearest troop was 30 miles away and my parents weren't into taking me that far. I was OA and had 32 merit badges. Congrats to all who actually made it. Now I push my grandsons to get there.
