Eagle Scouts
A buddy of mine is an Eagle Scout... I'm not really into the whole boy scouts thing... but I've helped him out before and I even started a HAM Radio week with his troop, because I've got some nice equipment and lots of knowledge of technology.
Yea, it is. I know of one more person on here who is, but not sure if he wants to be mentioned. Just thought i'd see how many we got. Hopefully more post up.
isn't it weird how proud we should be of this, but its embarrassing letting certain people know. i have no problem telling people but i am not going to go out of my way to tell people that i am

....and they don't even allow people of that kind into it....
Im not one, but I went to a ceremoney for one once and the speaker said that you should be more proud of being an eagle scout than of a college education. I know being an eagle scout is a big deal, but Im pretty proud of my college education to.
Ya I completed mine and got all my paperwork turned in 3 days before I turned 18.
I've never been ashamed to say that I'm an Eagle Scout. In my high school my buddies and I were actually respected for being scouts, but only because the second someone would talk us down we all grouped together and stood up for ourselves and the organization. It's a shame how people now tend to look down on the scouts. In my own troop we have new boys drop out every year because of peer pressure from other students who think that scouting is "gay" and the boys don't want to be looked down upon by their fellow students. (I'm the assistant scout master of my troop by the way) I have been told may a time that having achieved the rank of Eagle would open up many doors for a young man. I am currently going to college for a degree in Natural Resource Law Enforcement and many of my professors ask the new students if any of us were scouts and if any of us made it to eagle. Also my academy instructor was impressed that I made it that far in scouting but because of it he expects me to be a step above the other guys in the academy. Employers are also very impressed with it, almost more than my college education. I am currently employed by a park system that hired me over another well qualified applicant because they knew the dedication and hard work it took for me to reach the Eagle Scout rank. What I'm trying to say here is that no one should be ashamed of their status in scouting. It is a huge accomplishment and definitely can take you places in life!
Sorry for the rant, I'm a hardcore supporter of scouting. I know what the scouts did for me and I want all of our youth today to be involved or at least aware of scouting. For all you dads on here you should really think about getting your boys involved in scouts.

Congrats to all you Eagle Scouts. I almost made Eagle, I had all the merit badges and had the Eagle Scout project planned. Then about a month before the project my troop folded because we lost to many people and I joined another troop. With working and the short period of time with the new troop I never ended up finishing a new Eagle project. With hind sight being 20/20 I wish I had put more effort in and became an Eagle Scout. But being in scouting for 5+ years gave me a lot of knowledge and experiences.
