Exclamation fuel

This doesn't have anything to do with cars bue I thought that someone might know. I have a potato cannon (auctally I use golf *****) but I need a good fuel to shoot the ball further. Currently I am using gasoline, I have tried propane (couldn't ignite it) I have tried a gasoline/colman fuel mix, I have got about 300 yards from that. But now I am looking for a new fuel. PLEASE help me!!!!

Gasoline? Are you kidding me?

How far are you planning to shoot this sucker? The only propellent I have ever heard some of these locals using is hair spray. I never knew what a tater canon was until I moved to the south.

Try Naptha. Good old lighter fluid. We did that when we were kids. (probably 30 yrs ago). We went to the local dry cleaners and they gave us some of their old dry cleaning solution which is Naptha. We also caught my friends garage on fire. Wasnt funny then. Isnt funny now. Be careful.............

I've heard that Aqua-net aerosol hair spray is a good propellant. You might want to try WD-40, too.

Try rubbing alcohol. I assume you're using a mister or sprayer to atomize it.

Use starting fluid!! The vapor pressure of diethyl ether is HUGE, it boils at 34.5 degrees C. Watch yourself, you know, always wear your safety glasses when firing the cannon...lol

Seriously, whatever you use, you can get a little more bang by warming it up a little...

Aqua Net Hairspray is the way to go!! That's what we always use. We use actual potatos, we have to wedge them in there and you'd never think they would get out the barrel but with the Aqua Net it's not a problem! Have fun.

I've never played around with one of those things, but starting fluid (ether) seems like a natural. A little of that stuff goes a long way. As All4Chem says, Be careful!

Thumbs up

This potato cannon sounds about as bad as when my dad gets into the bottle a little to much and takes the 45 out back to do a little target practice at the light pole!!! I hope my dad never gets wind of the potato cannon!! And did I tell you about him starting the logs in the fireplace w/varsol cleaner. It also tends to clean the flue pipe when the fire takes off and whooshes out the top!. Yep, that potatoe cannon would be right up his alley

ha ha ha that is funny, I wish I had a light pole...it sounds like fun. (I was Kawboy in a past life, until the password ***** got to me) thanks for the suggestions, I am atomizing the gas with a compressor powered pressure washer ($1.50 blue light special), I also experimented with a pnewmatic gun with limited success, I couldn't get the diaphram to work.
