If you ever happen to obtain a Tundra sales booklet..you will notice little inserts throughout the book where the Tundra is compared to all of the other full size trucks..and gee..it happens to be ranked number one every time! Why? Look in the back on page 40...they list several different competitors vehicles the tests were conducted with. In some, the smaller engines were used..and in others the largest were used.

>For example, the 0-60 test was conducted using the 4.6L F-150...not a 5.4L. They say the 4.6L F-150 goes 0-60 in 9.01 seconds. The Tundra 'blazes' at 7.87 seconds.
>Towing was conducted using the 4.6L..again, not the 5.4L.
>The Braking and frame integrity tests WERE conducted using the 5.4L, not the 4.6L.

So as you can see...they fudged the numbers, which is understandable.. for an 'almost' full size truck.

I do think the post that "the Toyota's 4.7L is faster than all but the Ford's 5.4L. " is correct though. The 4.7L is DOHC and the truck is somewhat lighter.

If Toyota wants to stay in the full size market..they will have to get a bigger engine..everyone else is doing so.

HMMMMM:

The absolute power of f150online is truly awesome. We managed to kill one of their major threads in a matter of days. Sorry I missed it, just tried again a minute ago.
Actually, I'm thinking of registering there to try to get a dialogue going again. I'm sure none of us flamed them, and with less than 300 members, they may be a little gun shy. In many respects, that is a really neat truck, gotta love that motor!

Well, Im gonna find out if I can change the saying "the Toyota's 4.7L is faster than all but the Ford's 5.4L" to "the Toyota's 4.7L is faster than all but the Ford's 5.4L and 4.6l."

54,

Hey, they can dream can't they!!! I'm sure the Tundra is a good truck, but every now and then their owners wants to see what they can do against the big boys. Just like the slammed Tundra owner that ran against me about 4 months ago, gotta give him credit though..... he tried!! After getting spanked by yours truly, he told me to pull over and thats when the excuses started to fly (Oh my engine wasn't quite broken in yet... i only have 8k in it...you cheated at the light and got the jump on me... yadi yadi yadi). So i told him good, cuz next time i spank you again, i won't go as easy on you as i did this time!!!

Personally, I could care less if the Tundra COULD outrun my F150. speed really isnt my main concerns in a truck anyway.

Toyota certainly boasts about it as a selling point!

I bought mine for the:
1)Size and safety
2)V8 engine
3)Very good passing power.

"Let's get it on!"

They can talk all they want, but they can go to "Events and Happenings" and find out which track we will be at and when.

Now then. That is what it is all about. "Stars and Stripes" shooting down the "Rising Sun".

Toyota's usually so thorough. I don't know how they got their back seat so wrong (so small) when the industry is going the other way (witness the Silverado and the SuperCrew).

Mind you, they're the same company that gave North Americans the Previa van, with the 4-banger under the floor and the price that went through the roof.

Black 2000 SC XLT short-box. 4.2 V-6, 5-speed, 3.55 Limited Slip. Side steps, CD, remote entry, FORD box liner. Add-ons: Older Windstar driver's side wiper blade (with the air scoop, because I don't slow down when it rains), back-up beeper, "f150online.com" sticker and snazzy Tweetie Bird floor mats.

My third F-series: '73 F-100, '98 F-150 and '00 F-150. Great trucks!

It appears all they want to do is talk about Tundras over there. Where's the fun in that? LOL.
