Angry Tundra Outruns 5.4L Ford

Here's what some ppl on the Tundra board think about our F150's performance: http://www.tundrasolutions.com/ubb/F...ML/000249.html
Personally, I'll run against any Tundra.
They don't scare me.

Like a "race" on another forum here, it is possible, there are many factors in the way. #1 WEIGHT! But if it was setup identical, there isn't a chance for the Tundra to win. sorry Toylet

Check out the specs:

4.7-liter DOHC 32-valve EFI i-Force V8
245 hp @ 4,800 rpm;
315 lb.-ft. @ 3,400 rpm
--------------------------
Max. Trailer Weight 7,200
Max. Tongue Weight 720
(GCWR) 11,800

Did you see how Toytoy promotes this truck? They are selling it like they should a celica!
---------------------------------------------
"Traditionally, pickup trucks have not been known for their performance. But, this year, tradition became history. The new full-size Tundra has been engineered to excel in all areas of performance. For starters, its available 4.7-liter, 245-hp* i-Force V8 is the only double overhead cam (DOHC), 32-valve V8 ever offered in a full-size pickup. There's no lag time with this powerplant — when you get on it, you're gone. From 0-60, the Tundra is the fastest base V8 pickup in its class.** What's more, the i-Force V8's advanced design helped the Tundra become one of the first full-size pickups to achieve low emission vehicle (LEV) status."
------------------------------------------
The TOYOTA site compares to the 4.6L NOT the 5.4L; for all you know, maybe they raced with a 4.2L V6
--------------------------------------------
Besides what an UGLY truck! I'd rather drive slowly and show off the beauty of an AMERICAN truck. Than to race with everyone and have that as the best feature. Go ahead and drive your "better" Ford truck because YOU don't have to drive like a NUT to feel good about your truck (right???).

What a bunch of crap! They even do their board backwards....the newest posts are first. That was really messing me up until I figured it out. I wouldn't mind taking one on either. I know I would lose but they would repect me afterwards.

Take the Tundra for what's it's worth. It's hitting the market that would normally be too scared to buy a truck. The people who buy the Tundra pick up the kids from school, go to soccer, and the most they carry is their kids stuff when the kids go to college. It's an SUV with the back chopped off. I would like to know where Toyota saved all the weight.

I just read a bunch of the postings on 54's link. It's a bunch of kids who just got a new hotrod and parents w/ young kids who are concerned about the comfort of the back seat. It will be a little while before we see the problems that occur with 1st-year vehicles.

Have you seen the specs? This thing is 1000 lbs lighter, has a > 3.9 diff and runs on 16" rims. Even the posts say the two trucks are neck and neck up to 40 mph, pretty impressive considering the vast differences.

Step Bars
4W Disc anti-lock brakes
K&N filter
Stock Items That Differ Across F150s: Steel Driveshaft, Oil filter bolted to engine w/ drip guard, 4R70W transmission.

Sweet, exactly, thats why Im gonna feed the fire over there.

Anyways, the recent TruckTrend tested the Tundra to see its offroad capabilities, and it was a 2k Tundra RegCab, long bed with the V8, and it ran 0-60 in 8.3 seconds. Sorry Tindras, you dont scare me.

Quote from the board:

the Toyota's 4.7L is faster than all but the Ford's 5.4L.
Looks like the 5.4l got some respect from them.

I noticed that. did you get to read my post? I didn't flame. Infact, one of the TUNDRA owners actually was intersted in the Lightning, I think he said it was the only Ford product that he would consider. All I said was some of us had experiences in which the Tundra driver had no idea what a Lightning was (Bill Murray, myself, he had more fun). They thought they had the faster truck.
Where do they lose the 1000 lbs. Its less truck! Raol was right about it being 4/5 of an F150. Didn't someone say it was going to be called the T150? Hoe 'bout T120?

Talking

My business partner and I purchased new trucks for the business. He was dead set on the Tundra, but I just could not come to terms with its boring looks and tight cabin. But I'll tell you right now that test was against a 4.7 not a 5.4. The tundra is a engineering wonder but they still don't think of American ergonomics. By the way the 5.4 will pull for the win but not by much. However towing capacity will kick his but.
