These prices suck. Gas prices have never been over the $1.2x range as far as I can remember here in South Dakota, and now it's $1.50 per gallon! It was 97 cents last year, what gives?!?!?

Soaring gas prices leave Western tourism officials afraid
7.36 p.m. ET (046 GMT) March 6, 2000
By Pauline Arrillaga, Associated Press
......

The Energy Department on Monday predicted that gasoline prices, already averaging about $1.50 for a gallon of unleaded, would escalate to $1.75 to $1.80 a gallon during the summer because production is not keeping pace with demand.
....
AAA spokesman Geoff Sundstrom said ...."If prices continue to move up and begin to reach the $2 a gallon level, psychologically Americans may not be prepared to deal with that and continue business as usual with the family budget,'

This completely bites!!!!

Heh, checking the weather in Cleveland as of late, I was debating as to whether or not I should get out the motorcycle and toss the insurance on it. Looks like I am gonna. I should be able to easily save $10-15 a week if the weather stays even moderately warm. So, the insurance went back on the bike today.

I don't recognize any of the names of the guys who originally posted in this thread -- perhaps they all threw themselves out of the nearest 6th floor window once gas prices hit $2.75 per gallon.....

Reading all these posts all over again is sad. We were all complaining at how expensive it was back then and I know I speak for everyone that we wish we had those prices back...
