New Hemi

I got behind a new Hemi today that had loud exhaust on it. It sounded great when he was accelerating and such, but when he would let off and just cruise it would switch over to 6 cylinder mode and it sounded absolutely horrible. It sounded like a v6 that was missing, then as he would change pressure on the peddle it would switch back and forth between 8 and 6 cylinders and would make a horrible popping sound. I never thought about the cylinder deactivation and exhaust before I heard that one today, but Im sure glad the f150 doesn't do it for that reason.

dodge sucks and is very ugly.. everyone thinks they are ahead of the game with this whole displacement on demand crap.. but guess what it realllly doesnt help your mpg that much at all.. atleast not enough to justify it.. screw it.. im good with my v8 all the time deal....

I would never get rid of my Ford for anything, and certainly not for a Dodge, Chevy, or Toyota!

That's just mean.

I hate those hippie liberal pieces of crap. What I meant was if Ford offered something like what the Dodge has but the only downfall would be it sounding not all that great on decel I would get over that crappy sound if it would save some gas.

I do kind of like the new Dodge but the 09 FX4 is beautiful.

me too! Although I'm keeping my mind open to the Chevy Volt.

I'd rather Ford found another way to eek out a few more MPG before they start shutting down cylinders. Just my opinion though.

If they weren't total turds, I would consider one. With their trannies, rearends, wiring and suspension issues, you couldn't give me a Dodge. There's a reason why they regularly replace their line of engines and offer the absolute longest warranty on a domestic truck and still come in last in sales.

I never thought about this as an unintended (and unwanted) consequence of displacement on demand engines -- I'm glad I've got my good old V8!

That commercial makes me change the channel every time, along with the Chevy's man step or heated steering wheel commercial.

a kid i know had a new silverado that would switch from 8 cylinders to 4. even with exhaust in the cab you couldn't tell, just cuz cruising his exhaust wasn't loud enough in the cab. but he would get up to 24mpg when going down roads. wish i could get that but if you put a loud enough exhaust on a truck with that crap im sure it would be annoying
