I like COUNTRY, too. Not that flavor of the month BS on CMT/TNN and the top 40 country stations (i.e., Lonestar, Garth Brooks aka "lardass," Tim McGraw, insert name here, etc.). They take any old hobag with a big chest and nice legs and make her into a singer even though she can't carry tune in a garbage pail. Same goes for the pretty boys, too. I listen to Merle, Buck Owens, Dwight (he's new, but he sings country), Lefty, Hank senior, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, etc. Wife won't ride with me if we listen to Merle anymore. About four years ago, I got the Merle Haggard boxed set of cds. Put two of them in my changer on a trip to Arkansas. We listened to Merle for four hours, from west of Oklahoma City to Alma, Arkansas. For some reason she doesn't like Merle anymore. Damn near grounds for a divorce.

Runnin' my rig around ninety-five,
I'm-a-rockin' and-a-rollin' into overdrive,
Yeah my heart's beatin' like a jackhammer,
It's the midnight ride of the gearjammer

(George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers)

With a powerful motor and some hideaway wings,
Pushin' down on the buttons and you can hear her sing,
'Cause you can't catch me,
Baby you can't catch me,
'Cause if you get too close you know I'm gone like a cool breeze

(Chuck Berry)

Well I was rollin' down the road in my V8 Ford,
I had a shine on my boots I had my sideburns low,
With my New York brim and my gold tooth displayed,
Nobody give me trouble 'cause they know I got it made,
I'm bad, I'm nation wide

(ZZ Top)
