Ah, don't sweat it dirty. I am very familier with how deer hunting works in Texas. It is a legal and accepted way to hunt down there. Nice doe and I'm sure she will be tasty. Don't worry about everyones comments. You worked within the laws and was able to bag a nice doe.

Do I agree with hunting over bait, no. But it is what it is, when it's legal such as in Texas and many other states.

As a moral issue, that's up to the individual hunter.

And hunting in PA is no cake walk.

That sucks you never got to hunt with your pap. My dad taught me how to hunt and I intend on passing that down some day.

Maybe you should look at doing some traveling to hunt. I make the trek back "home" to PA each year for deer season. Costs me an arm and a leg, but it is so worth it! Much more relaxing than any amount of time I have spent lying on a beach or traveling through Europe hands down!
Yea, me and my dad are looking to take up bow hunting. He used to be an avid bowman, but work kind of took over his time. Now that we both have more flexible schedules, we are looking into a few weekend bows hunts a year.

And the thing about Texas, almost everyone in the state hunts like this. Because there isn't all that much foliage to use to your advantage like y'all have in PA. About the only wooded places are in East Texas, but it is still risky.

nice doe. i wouldnt know what a rifle kill looks like, we arent allowed to use them here. no feeders, no rifles. most powerful gun we can use is a muzzleloader or 10 gauge shotgun. no buckshot either. might make it more challenging, but its still all fun. i managed to kill out first day shotgun season this year. kinda disappointing but amazing in my eyes to kill what i did. congrats on a nice doe, even if she is blown apart

I got to experience Elk hunting this past season and I am an official Elkoholic. I'm used to hunting deer in Michigan and Pennsylvania but Elk hunting the rocky mountains is unreal. Hiking 10 to 15 miles a day just trying to find them then when you do, wow is it a rush that I have never had before. I'm trying to get some pics some e-mailed to me of a Elk my buddy (and I) got. Needless to say there were about 30 Elk in a field and we both shot the same brow-tine since we weren't near each other. He had the first shot so it was his. Also I got a doe whitetail but didn't take pics of it. Congrats on your tasty bambi.

I thought things were big in texas but that puppy would not make a good sub let alone a meal. I would have never shot that thing with a rifle except a head shot (to much waste). Why is it on the atv and not gutted?. Here in NY we grow em bigger much much bigger and no feeder allowed but we can use a rifle and i do use a .30 .30 look into one it make a whole lot less mess. Leave the little ones to grow.

They're weren't any trees big enough to hold her up, plus we had a hanging rack back at the house, so I figured I could utilize that.

I know it's not true "hunting", but a kill is a kill. We got about 60 lbs (Dad also killed a doe) of meat in the freezer, so it will be some good eating.

Hopefully one of these days, I can get enough $$ for a Elk hunt either in Canada, or the Northern US.
