I know my way around trucks and especially engines, I've built 2 myself( with additional help, both 302's), and helped build several gm's (350's 377's, and a 402), and one Dodge 361. I know the truck I drove was a 4x4, becuase I almost turned the *** on the dash instead of the fan speed switch. I have 2 trucks, a 1993 2wd and a 89 4x4. Both are 302's. In my 5.5 years of driving and ownership, I have owned 3 trucks, all have 302's. I know how they perform and I know how they operate. My dad had 19 of them(302's) since 1967.
Any stock configuration sucks! (except new lightnings). Most of these people on this site, have modified somehow they're trucks. You can build a 302 to put out more hp than a 4.6L. I read in a Hotrod magazine awile back about a 600hp 302(non NOS equipped). Never heard of a 4.6L with those numbers, yet...)I am starting a new project this summer, building a 351 with 300hp. Mike L. on this site is having a custom built 351 performing 385hp.
I still don't see it happening...1-2 lengths, if he knew how to drive correctly, you wouldn't have beat him by much more than a bumper, or hood. Unless he had a different gear ratio. You have to race apples to apples. I know of Metro's that can beat me. 15hp isn't going to make a full car length, more like shaving 1-2 seconds off of a 1/4 mile. I don't buy it. I raced a 97 in 1997, his truck was lighter than mine, (flareside) and I beat him by about 6 feet, 1/2 my length. That was with just a chip. He had a filtercharger. Plus his 97 had the exhuast in front of the wheel.
The main reason Ford did the OHC in the first place is to lower emissions. Not for hp reasons.

Other things help the 4.6L and newer engines get higher hp. Like a better ignition system and a better exhaust. If both were equipped identical except the engine, I seriously doubt the 4.6L would have >5 hp. Sorry buy I don't buy your story.
Thats ok, you dont need to believe me. I knew what happened, and thats that. Why would I need to lie anyways? What do I have to prove?
